Re: screaming for fun...
Hi Jo,
Sophie did this aswell around the 1 yr old mark. I use to tell her know and my step daughters did the same, but I was talking to the child nurse about it and she said to ignore it. It's only now reading your Q & A that I've noticed that she has stopped it. So don't worry it will stop in time
Good luck,I know it is annoying, but hang in there
Tracey

Re: screaming for fun...
Hehe, Jo they all do it! Jack used to do it and Oscar is already starting! I do what Debbie said to do & start singing a song when they do it - you will find that he will soon be trying to sing along with you instead.

Re: screaming for fun...
see if you can turn the screams into singing,, everytime he screams sing twinkle twinkle little star you might find that he will look at you and stop instead of continueing to scream do all the little hand movements also and ignore the screams ,, get others to clap for you also everytime you sing and say good mummy  ( possitive attention)

Re: screaming for fun...

Hey Jo

JB did this a little while ago too. As hard as it is, I found ignoring it really worked. I am learning from my sisters problem, my neice went through a phase of this when she was younger and everyone reacted and it took her the longest time to stop.

Stock up on nurofen and I hope he stops soon!

Re: screaming for fun...

hi JO

I'm going through the exact same thing at the moment with charlie and it started not long after his b'day too, with charlie i think its more cause he knows what he wants to say but can't and it upsets him so he screams and does so loud sometimes too, and the other times that he does it i also put down to frustration for not been able to do something, or for getting into trouble for doing something that he knows hes not allowed to do, i have been reading lots of books to him to try and help get the new words out there for him to learn and i just help him with what it is that he is trying to do, i have asked friends that have kids around the same age and older and they have all told me that they are going through the same thing and that they too have been told that it is a phase that they are going through,

hope this helps a little

hugs and kisses

Re: screaming for fun...

oh trust me I'm still looking for my mute button and i can't find it yet, as for how long its going to last for i don't know the answer to that one sorry Jo, charlie is now 18months and is still doing it, his cousin who will be turning 3 next year is still doing it and his mum puts it down to the terrible 2's, but i have to agree with what the other mum said, about not reacting to it when he does it cause we are trying that at the moment and it seems to be helping,

sorry i couldn't be much more help

hugs and kisses
