Taking nappy off?

I have my daughter, who will be 2 in december and lately has been taking her nappy off all the time. As soon as a nappy is on, within 5 mins she has it off again and finds this quite amusing. I have pulled the potty out, but seems she is not interested. Any ideas on what I can do would be great

Thanks

Re: Taking nappy off?

Hi,

My little grub did this and thought it was wonderful! By 15 months the nappy only managed to stay on at night or when she needed to poo( whole other story!) She refused point blank to have anything to do with a potty! We were lucky in a) it is warm where we live, b) we had no near neighbours! She used to wee outside on the grass! As she got better at knowing when she had to go, we used to race upstairs to the loo! When she was big enough to manage, we got a step and a toilet seat ( only lasted until she was 20 months old when she announced she was a big girl and didn't need the seat -but mummy can you hold me so I don't fall in!) We also got some undies for her to wear instead of nappies and  there were a few accidents  in the first week or so - I think it was a huge suprise the first couple of times to find wee trickling down the legs- to start with but she quickly warmed to the idea of them! In fact she loved her undies and hasn't looked back!

A couple of times ( Dad decided to leave her for too long when she woke up after a daytime nap one day when I was working as she "sounded happy" ) she decided to explore the possibilties of poo and how far it could be flung around the room! It is always fun when they decide they are independent and can do things for themselves!

Ideas then: 1: toilet seat

                     2. step

                     3. Thank goodness the weather is warming up

                     4. undies

                     5. Good luck!

Re: Taking nappy off?
Hi
Welcome to the club of nappy ripping nudists
We tried the back to front nappy...took all of 5 minutes for her to work it out
Tried the clothes over the top and she learned to take them off
Tried the bodysuits and she worked out how to open the tabs...
A puddle here and there a plop her and there
She is slowly learning to use the toilet and potty....
I'm so glad we have vinyl in most of the rooms lol
Good Luck
Luv Deb

Re: Taking nappy off?

Grub is a nudist at heart (you just can't help some people!!!!) and as soon as he worked out how to get the nappy undone he did it all the time. He wasn't interested in the potty at the time so I just put singlet suits or bodysuits on him, as he couldn't get the clips undone.

Although I have heard of people doing the nappy up in reverse...tabs to the back, they must be a bit hard to reach back there!!

Re: Taking nappy off?

my husband threatened to duct tape my son's diaper on him.  LOL .  I think he did tape it once.

The easiest solution for us was to put him in shorts or pants that he couldn't take off.  It's either the potty or the diaper.  You really don't want to be finding puddles throughout the house.  LOL

Re: Taking nappy off?
Hi there,   I had some padded training pants for my kids.  They were material with extra padding in the right places, not disposable ones.  Maybe you can try something like this during the day and if she wets in them she might not like the sensation and start using the potty or keep her nappy on.  She could be ready to give toilet training a go.  All the other suggestions sound good as well.

Re: Taking nappy off?
Hi mate,

sounds like a funny little phase to me. I remember D going through this and it was very frustrating. She was always pulling the nappy off but never wanted anything to do with the potty or toilet. In the end I turned to putting on pants over the top that i know she couldn't get off and this helped.

Goodluck matey
Cheers Kellz
