Step daughter returns Spoilt

I have a 6 year old step daughter who calls me dad and a son of 2. i have been with my partner for 4 years. As a step dad I encounter serious problems with the biological fathers parents.

My step daughter has every weekend since she was little gone to there house to see her grandparents. The father has nothing to do with her has shirked all responsibilities and pays no maintenance at all.

The problem is that when she is with my partner and I she is fine but every weekend she comes back whiney sulky spoilt brat. She says hurtful things to me like my other daddy is better than you. which i ignore but it all came to a head on her birthday the other day when the grandparents came to our house to give her presents and wish happy birthday.

My stepdaughter changed immediately, suddenly rude shouting and screaming and acting very badly. I am usually the one that is responsible for the discipline and am always supported by my partner.

I have sat down with my step daughter and explained that it is wrong to behave that way and she understnds and agrees with, but as soon as they show up to collect or drop her off i note her behaviour terrible.

I have thought about stopping her from going to the grandparents if they don't start disciplining her properly but that would only hurt my step daughter as she does love them very much.

I don't want a confrontation with them either as my step daughter would turned against me! our relationship is very good at the moment but i am worried that she is growing into a horrible person. Please help!!

nappy rash

13 month old baby Christain has the worst nappy rash I have ever seen!  There are blisters and his scrotum has even been bleeding.  Every nappy change is torture for the poor little boy!  He does between 6-8 poo's a day, of a fairly loose consistency.  All kinds of cream has been tried and stool samples have just been sent to the lab.  I've thought perhaps an intolerence to a food, but which one???

My 4 year old pees often

Lately my 4 year old has been going pee often, like every 5 or 10 minutes, she'll just go to the bathroom and sit on the toilet and nothing really will come out .  At first she started doing that just before bed so i thought it was just a tactic for staying up.   Now recently she has been doing it more during the day and getting up often during the night and almost every time she goes she doesnt really pee she just tinkles a little bit.  I checked out the symptoms for a UTI but she only has ONE of the symptoms.. i asked her if it hurt when she peed and she said no...any advice??

Rash that turns white

surprising, but the first time Rishan got this it was all over his face - cheeks, around lips, ears, neck. The doc said it was due to drooling, milk spill etc., somehow i was given to use oilatum after bath, no progress. I later visited another doc, she said he has sensitive skin and that i must take good care of his skin. I stopped using J&J baby products, bought pears as suggested by her. Applied liquid paraffin. Nothing worked. I had the kamillosan ointment and applied it and thought the rash like thing had healed. This red patch would turn white after about three to four days. He kept kept getting it every once in a while now and then. Kamillosan i thought was the only remedy. I later changed his creams and powders to mothercare range. Got him a preventive nappy rash cream from Kamillosan.

on 18th of july he developed a red rash like thing on his scrotum. I thought it could be because of the diaper and kept him diaper free for almost a week. It took him a week after which the rash turned white. The doctor called it fungal infection and gave me miconazole. No progress. Now after almost 2 months the white patch is as it is. I feel it is similar to the one he gets on his cheeks and find no remedy.

Is there anyone who has faced a similar problem, since I am unable to get a convincing answer ?

One Confused Mamma!!!

Okay. Don't know how I'm gonna word this yet, so I'll just start from the beginning. I have two kids - a 2yr old and a 10month old. For a while now I've been of the opinion "Yes, we're going to eventually have a third, but not until #2 is at least another year older and #1 is toilet trained!". However, I have found myself starting to reconsider that thought lol. The reason being that every one around me seems to be pregnant!!!!!! Now I'm starting to miss the feeling of being pregnant and all the excitment that goes with it . I don't really know what I'm asking you guys to do - except HELP!!!!!!!

Potty Training

My son is going to be 2 in October, I know he is ready to be potty trained because he asks to go on the toilet, he can undress  himself and take his daiper off. He puts his lil toilet seat on the toilet and will sit on it. He just doesnt know how to pee in the toilet. I am nervous about potty training him because I think that if we start to get heavy in it he will loose interest and not want to do it, and that will be frustrating to me. How do I teach him to go on the toilet, and help him not to lose interest. How can I make it fun for him to use the toilet without bribing him to do so or having to give him M&M's because I really don't like giving him much candy or chocolate because he's a handful as it is

Please comment, but I would prefer to be written maybe your experience with potty training or even what kinds of things you did to potty train your child.

How to I stretch out time between bottles?

I have two 5 1/2 month old boys. They still eat bottles every 3hours(during the day..they do STTN). How do I get them to go at least every 4 hours with bottles. Right now I give them 6oz in their bottles, some times they finish it, other times they don't. When we have tried 8oz it seems to much and they throw  a lot of it up. I set out to stretch out the time even by 15 minutes, but by 2 1/2 to 3 hours they are freaking out for bottles. Do I just deal with the 3  hour schedule for now?

Not even close to a parenting question

I'm sorry, this is not a parenting qu... But am in desperate need of advice... My partner and i had a bit (BIG)  of a run in a couple of weeks ago, it was the best thing that could have happened to us. It has helped us emensly, unbelivably  (just to go off track a little, it was a bit of a shock to both of us as we never argue, but occasionally diasagree- as we all do) ... for a long time i have known that we are perfect for each other, get along very well and have everything that a relationship needs to work...

We have been talking about marriage but i think that i want to propose to him... Im totally terrified and i'm looking for any advice that people can give me on how to do this, (maybe if any other ladies have ever done it)... as i said, we did have a bit of a run in not long ago, but for both of us, it has just made us realise how lucky we are to hav each other and just how perfect that things are

Thanks in advance to any advice towards my crazy qu.

Compulsion to crawl and stand at bedtime?

My daughter is 9 months old and it is becoming increasingly difficult to get her to settle to sleep, no matter how exhausted she is.  She appears completely compelled to pull herself to a stand over and over again and cries or screams while doing it as she is so tired.  It can take  anything from 10 minutes to an hour to settle her at every nap time.   When not standing, she repeatedly bats at the wall or cot bars and often works herself up into inconsolable tears...  She was a fantastic night time sleeper (has never managed day time naps of more than 40 mins) until she was about 7 months.   Has anyone any suggestions please for a tired mummy?

car seat carry bag -- with wheels?

Hi Folks,

I'm looking for a car seat bag that a) I can check as baggage and b) has wheels.  Has anyone ever seen such a thing?

I found a manufacturer in the States that offers one with wheels, but they don't recommend you check it.  Their tougher one for checking as baggage does not have wheels.

Thanks in advance for any tips.
