Fish Oil and Children

Hi Everyone

I have heard that taking fish oil helps children with behaviour and learning.  Has anyone tried it?  Did it make a difference?  My kids are 5 and 3 and a half.

Sally

Thanks to all of you who have replied to my question.  I think I will try it.  I have bought some "Natures Way" ones from the supermarket.  My kids aren't ADHD or anything, but sometimes they are hard to handle and their attention span really patchy, so it wont hurt to give it a try by the sounds of things.

Re: Fish Oil and Children
I started my eldest on fish oil tablets (the kids smart ones) about a year ago. they certainly made a huge difference. He was able to sit down and concentrate for longer periods. these are the last thing in a long line of things we have done to help his behavior-it's ongoing but it is worth it. These are also the only ones he will eat as the others he doesn't like and some are just too expensive.

Re: Fish Oil and Children

hi there,

i was having major issues with my boys and thought that they might even be hyperactive and went and talked to my doctor who recommened a fish oil designed to help kids naturally as aposed to chemical medicins my dr recommended efalex which can be brought from most health food stores and pharmacies and within 1 week of using the recommended dose the behaviour issues had decreased dramaticly i have not stoped using it since.

We tried it for a while and found that our girls were more hyperactive on it than before they started taking it.  As for helping with memory and learning?  Ours certainly don't need anything to help them  They see or hear something once and that's it.  Our oldest is known as Aylaphant!

Mine are 7 and 3 and i give them the kids fish oil tablets that don't taste fishy.  Omega 3 is excellent for the brain.  Also protein for breakfast is really good for helping them concentrate at school etc.

It sure does help them to concetrate and behave them selves and learn just that bit more. I totally believe in fish oil.
