Should I do any thing?
My 15 month old son has gone from doing 1-2 normal stools a day to 5-6 hard poos a day. There has been no changes in his diet, Not eating any more or any less then usual and doesn't seem to be in any pain when he does the poo. Just squats and grunts which he has done for ages. I have tried to get him to drink more water but that has proved to be a bit of a challenge. What should I do if I should do any thing. I just really want to nip this in the butt, (scuse the punt) befor it causes any real problems as I remember what it was like when I couldn't poo when I was preggas.

Re: Should I do any thing?
Stool movements can vary due to all sorts of things. He eats good food and drinks well, but what he has could have some small change - bit of bacteria, something in the water, he might have a bit of dirt on his hands you don't notice - any of these can cause a slight upset in the digestive system & then affect stool movememts. Normally these things sort themselves out. If it persists, & you think there may be a problem, have him checked out.
Sometimes too much fibre can cause this too. I know a girl who was once very unwell due to not being able to go - she had too much fibre, causing what the doctors described as a fibre blockage. So if this problem continues that is one possibility for it.
To get him to drink water, add a little food colouring - just a bit won't hurt, especially if it means he will drink the water. Kids love colour in their drinks so he is more likely to drink it. When my kids were that young and wouldn't drink water, I added just a dash of juice or cordial for a little flavour - that often helped, too.
