Re: please help my hubby
do you have any clinics or public health options that might get you the care you need even if you don't have the money right now.  i think dental problems can lead to other issues if unattended.  hope you can find some help fast!

Ask your chemist for Florinal Dental - it's a pain killer and is fantastic.

Re: please help my hubby
The only thing that will get rid of an abcess completely is either having a root canal done or having the tooth removed, anti-biotics hold it off for a little while, but it will keep recurring until he goes to the dentist.  Not only that, but check out this article  by mum2four and if at any stage he cannot swallow or has trouble breathing call 000 as there is always the chance of something called Ludwig's Angina as well.  So please please make the trip to the dentist a case of sooner rather than later!

In the meantime, Icepacks on the outside of the mouth, 20 mins on 20 off, and as stupid as this sounds, a cold used teabag on the gum works a treat too!

When ever i get this as i bit my cheek a lot i gargle very salty water as salty as the salt wont dissolve any more. I do this after every meal. Generally after a few days 2-3 it is all but gone.

Poor hubby, ouch , been there it hurrrrrrrts. Dentists recommend Ibuprofen and co-codamol alternately every two hours if the abcess is really sore. Doctors and GP's will prescribe antibiotics for tooth abcesses if you cant get to a dentist. Hope this helps. Luv Winnie.
