diaper rash

Hi everyone, i was just wondering what you all use for diaper rash?  Lyliana is almost 16 months now and she has not had a diaper rash for months now atleast 6-8months with no problems, but now out of the blue she has this red rash  all over her bottom.  I tried vasilene but it didn't work and now i'm trying 35% zinc  cream, but it hasn't helped either.  Anyone know what to do?

 Thanks Michelle and Darren

Re: diaper rash
Papaw ointment is fantastic! I use it for everything - nappy rash, cuts & scrapes, etc. As winja said it could be thrush so if nothing else seems to be working try an antifungal ointment like canesten.

Re: diaper rash

We used equal parts of:

A&D ointment, mylanta, and Lotrimin

I  put it in a left over baby food jar and shook it up. It worked great. the doc. recommended this to me for a BAD diaper rash and it worked.

Now I put baby powder on his bottom at every diaper change. I also pat the powder on there to make sure all is dry before I close up the diaper and that has kept the diaper rash away for good, for now....

Re: diaper rash
Try Amolin. It really works, and can be bought over the counter at the chemist and in many supermarkets. Let me know how you go.

Re: diaper rash
you already have the response you need with the creams but id like to add that if it doesnt start to clear up within a few days it could be thrush, thrush looks like nappy rash but on bottoms it is often red spots with lil white amrks. if it is thrush use daktarin oral thats what i used on chloe it was sensitive enough for her skin. good luck

Re: diaper rash

I never had that problem with DD so can't tell you first hand what helped. But I've been told cornflour is meant to work wonders when all else fails.  Try it and see.  Many people swear by it.
