As others have said, fever is an indicator.  My sil had some of the placenta left inside after the birth and she became very ill and had to go back to the hospital.  If you think something may be wrong go back to your dr or hospital.  You won't pass it on to your baby and they would give you antibotics suitable if you are breastfeeding.

By the way congrats on the new baby!

You can't pass any infection to your baby - don't worry. I had an infection due to retained placenta and I didn't know about it until he was 2 weeks old. If you have a serious infection you will have a fever. If its mild like mine was then you only notice it after a couple of weeks when the usual post baby uterus tenderness has gone and all of a sudden it starts to hurt again. It will be bloated and sore to touch. You will also have horrible smelling discharge like something has died. I was put on antibiotics. Watch out for yeast infections as they usually give you augmentin. Baby can catch a yeast infection and can get it on their tongue also. It is horrible and is easily missed so if you notice baby starts to grizzle when feeding about a week after you've had antibiotics then get some oral daktarin gel for bubs. Even if there are no white spots on babies tongue they can be in a lot of pain. Hope you get better :)

Re: please help me not sure
the number one sign of infection is fever.  but if you had any issues with your placenta, my guess is that the doctors had to be very thorough to make sure they got all the pieces out because they have to account for it 100% in order to finish the paperwork at your birth.  i would call the dr's office and continue asking questions until i was confident that there are no remaining issues.  this is one of those areas where you need to be in close communication until everything resolves itself.  good luck.

Hi Hun

Congrats!!! on new baby girl.  I hope you are both well.  My concern is two fold.  If you have

an infection, not getting on anti-biothic fast if needed ....well "could' become an issue.

First, If you are nursing, caring for a new born, house etc, then you truly do need

to be your own best friend, and get yourself checked out.

In the US we have a dr's

apt set up before we leave the hospital, just for this type of situation, complications, concerns

and fears to be addressed..So enjoy yourself..try to nap with your daughter does ,and dim the

lights focus on you and baby.  Also down the road, get together with other Moms Dads, so feeling of isolation will exist.

and foget about house work for awhile!!

If you have any doubts as to what is going on, then go straight back to the maternity ward.  They will help you and sort any thing out.  Chances are there is nothing wrong, they wouldn't have let you go home if they thought there was.
