Re: How do I know if I am being fished for how I vote?
Hi
All you do is be like me and if you want to vote a 1,2 or 3 leave a constructive comment as to why you voted it low then you cannot be accused of anything
I left a 2 on one article and left a comment on expanding the article and hints on how to improve the article
The member thanked me for this and rewrote her article with more information both personal and factual then i was able to go back and revote her higher as it was then a fantastic article
She now is a fantastic article writer because of some constructive criticism i was able to give her
Another thing i do is read the article first vote and/or comment and then see who wrote it
This way i cannot be biased if i do not think much of the person.  Yes there are people on here i have personality clashes etc but that does not affect how i vote on their article

The article really has nothing to do with the person....if it is written properly.  It is there to help the wider community and other parents that need advice on that subject matter nothing more
These are my thoughts on all this
Luv Deb

Ps i checked on one of  my lowest rating advice articles and it is now rated over a 4 where 6 months ago it was rated a 2 so they do change on a long term basis depending on who reads them.

Re: How do I know if I am being fished for how I vote?
I was thinking that it would be hard for one person to make a difference unless they were not logged on and could keep doing multiple votes. Would that even be possible to vote on the same article twice though. Don't want to give anyone ideas but this is what I thought people were saying. This could maybe effect it. Voting doesn't concern me really, just wondering what the fuss is about. I am being nosey today.

Re: How do I know if I am being fished for how I vote?
You can't vote twice on anything, the system only records the last vote. You can't do multiple votes, and if somehow you automated trying to dodge our system, we would know, that is as much as I can say. What I can say is that we are tough on any gaming of our system, real tough. Honesty voting is the only thing you can do. Hence why some members don't live on Minti anymore, we don't divulge any real nasty work that gets attempted, because it's our job to keep Minti clean, fresh and happy.

Hi, just a note:  You can vote twice - once when you are logged in and once when you are not.  This means that you can actually vote on your own stuff when you are logged out... I tested it by voting on my own advice article - I gave myself 3 stars LOL

Keep up the good work. I am very happy with the site. There is way more good on it to worry about the voting by minorities.

Re: How do I know if I am being fished for how I vote?

I'll be answering that as an advice some time in the next 48 hours, brain power and time permitting. Also explaining how the averages for scores on articles and comments, etc; work, as it seems a lot of people simply dont understand how the numbers crunch.

As a start, if your advice dropped in score from 5.00 to 4.95 or some such thing, it could just mean that someone voted 4 instead of 5, but it's still a good score and that is not a low vote.

Yep your right, but it still may beat an article that has had less votes but each one was at the full 5 star rating ;0)

Re: How do I know if I am being fished for how I vote?
Basically, no one can work out by tracking activity if a particular person is voting in a certain way. So bottom line dont divulge how you vote AT ALL, unless you are happy to stand by how you vote. The only way content can be affected by votes is by the entire Minti community. We have set strict smart rules, no one person can affect, the only way is by the collective and we can monitor, track and expel any suspicious behavior. So if anyone emails you about voting and gives any thought that people think you are voting a 2 or 1, they are fishing as they have NO IDEA, unless you have been open about it.

All members vote content down, it just depends if all agree by computer analysis that provides the end ranking. In the end the only way a members vote counts is if you vote HONESTLY then our system will reward you.
