My 2yr old daughter gets bored of her toys quickly and I'm sick of The Wiggles and Hi5 being on a couple of times a day, so I'm trying to think of some activities we can both do together(apart from the usual drawing/colouring). Any creative suggestions?
Hi, how are you? I've written a few articles on Minti which you might like.
Look at this one and this one. Some of the things might be a bit old for a teo year old, but you can pick and choose what you want.
Activities like blocks are great for spacial awareness and development. Go to the park and run around or just get out in the back yard if you have one.
There's some more ideas on my website - good luck!
my daughter is also 2, and she just got into hide n seek. she doesnt quite get it, because she tells you where to hide and then she counts to 5 and then comes and finds you. she loves hiding for me though and its always the same place. its so cute. she also loves to play outside on her jungle gym and swing set. and at night when she cant go outside, she loves to read and make mommy tea with her make believe tea set.
do you have a sandpit? my twins are in love with theirs! the only thing is that the sand ends up everywhere but in the pit - we have refilled it twice in the last few months! just an idea anyway. i know just how you feel - i have this bloody hi 5 song stuck in my head right now!! (wow! what a surprise you opened up my eyes you really are amazing!! god i'm sad!)
Haha Kawin, its sad I know the exact Hi5 song you've got stuck in your head! I was worried that the sand would go everywhere but the pit, thats why we've been reluctant to give her a sandpit... But I guess we need to think of her enjoyment as well! Thanks for the help!
abstract art... large piece of A4 paper and some scissors to cut up coloured bits of paper, some pom pom thingys glue glitter.
Perhaps keep toilet paper rolls and help her to make a park using paddlepop sticks, the toilet rolls for tree stumps, crepe paper, pipe cleaners etc.
This helps to build the cognitive and creative development in a child!
Hope these ideas are something you are interested in.
Cheers
These might be messy and need constant supervision but they are a lot of fun.....
Playdough, painting, collage, bubbles, water play with coloured water, on really hot days put in cups of frozen water in the water play, digging in the garden.
Thanks for the ideas! She went through a big playdough stage but she's not too interested in it at the moment, I should get some fun things for her to use it with from the Playdough range.
You could start a small herb garden with your daughter. They are always lots of fun and kids love to dig. Haha I know what you mean with the kids music being played over and over again- sometimes it can feel like a torture :)
Oh yeah, its especially sad when you know all the words and even the dances to some of these DVD's! We have a great area to make a herb garden, although we also have a crazy labrador that might take a liking to it and dig it up, will have to put some fencing around it. Its a great idea, thanks!
hiya my lil girl is also 2 n shes loves t bake wiv me. and help me wiv the cleanin we mek the hooverin n doin dishes a game, or we stand near sink in play in the water mekin bubbles n stuff.
Thanks for your help with this, I love the baking idea, she even has her own little baking set to help. She also loves following me around the house and helping me with little chores too.
