Re: RSV vaccine
Wow, I wish we had paid that little for our son's RSV shot last season. We ar ein the states so that may be the difference. I have to pay 20 bucks for the visit but the SHOT!!!! My co-pay for 1 shot is $200.00 yes I typed that properly. Two Hundred Dollars. for one shot. And he needed one from October through April!!!!! so $220.00 times the 6 moths well, you get the picture. It was a minor fortune that racked up our credit card.
Our son needed it though because he was in a weakend immune system caused by his heart defect. If he had cought RSV last year it would have KILLED him. We opted out of it this year and only got him the flu shot since his heart defect is fixed and he is doing better all though we couldhave gone for at least 1 more season.
BTW the RSV shot does NOT toatlly prevent RSV. We were sent to the ER with our son and they tested him for RSV it turned out he had bronculitus instead. When they swabbed him for the RSV they didn't tell us what they were doing it for so I ASKED, what are you doing.....he said it was a nasal swab for RSV. I said oh, he can't get that he got the RSV shot. I was told they can still get RSV the shot just lessen the chances....
