Advice and Voting
Ok, this is not so much a parenting question, but a question about the site. Sorry in Advance. I was just looking over the advice, where I always find great advice, but due to the back lash of a few months ago, where people were saying mean things to one another about voting people down, and I am sure it was happening, I am afraid to vote! If I dont like it I just move on, but then that isnt really fair to the people who have written great advice. I am just confused I guess, and there seems to be quite a few articles that are not really parenting advie just advice. Just like this isnt really a parenting question, just a question.....how do you vote???

Re: Advice and Voting
If you want to vote or comment then you should feel frree to do so. We take a very negative view of people who try to track down the votes placed based on the timing of comments etc. Votes are anonymous for a reason, we had problems in the past with personal attacks against people who had voted honestly but not enthusiastically for advice.
We are working on a number of improvements to our system so that votes are more difficult to track back to their original source and so that extreme voting or attempts to game our algorythm system are not easily done.
If any writes to another member about thier voting, accusing or asking for explanations or trying to change someones opinion I consider this a breach of our first code of honor guildine: "Above all else, respect others"
If members write to you, on or off the site and try to influence your votes or attack you for your comments (so long as they were reasonable and not attacks themselves) then you can message Minti admin (the big shield people) and get warnings sent out.
Voting makes this site better for all, coersive or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated.
all the best
Matt

Re: Advice and Voting
hi hotmama
the way i have always looked at it is, be honest to how you feel about the advice, if think its great then vote a 5 and if you don't think its great then vote honest to how you feel don't feel you have to not vote and move on, if you feel that there are things that either needed to be changed or you want to add something then either leave a little message for the person that wrote it or send them a minti mail then that way they have some feedback from you as to how you feel about their advice,
you are right there has been a lot of BS over the whole voting thing, i was voted down along with others like Lui Kellz Cazza who all write really great and helpful advice, we don't know why this happens but it does its just how life around minti is, my hubby loves to say that there are just to many hormones flying around, and i kinda agree with him, we are not all going to get along but when it comes to reading someones advice that they have put a lot of work into leave how you feel about them at the door and just focus on what they have written, and if you still don't like it then fine but its also nice to let them know as to why you didn't,
but please don't ever feel afraid to vote just continue the way you have always done it and you can't go wrong, and if you feel that it isn't parenting advice contact the person that has written it and let them know,
i hope that this has helped a little sorry its so long lol,
