Re: what would you do
How did your sister's work mate even pass her Child Care practical exams? That is disgusting behaviour, and ABC Learning Centres should definitely look into this - although it seems to me that a lot of you have previously had terrible experiences with their child care centres!

I would be a bit worried for your sisters job, is it possible for her to move before you report it? Alternatively, she should report it to her boss, or if her boss is the one who is doing it, report it to the Territory Manager of ABC Learning Centres because if they (and their shareholders) find out about this, I doubt they will not be happy and they will be forced to do something about it.

I know that in Canada this would be considered child endangerment, and if repoeted she would be charged! Are the employess not sceened there? My advice is to report this person before she harms a child!

Re: what would you do
The ones that are working there and told you about this should have reported it immediately and I would have taken the the food she gave the child away from the child and picked up the child she dropped from a high distance to check if he or she was ok.  Grabbing the manager really quickly could have helped as well.  Hopefully she will be fired for this and imprisoned to think about what she did.

Sincerely,

Aaliyah

Re: what would you do

I never like abc day care i   have heard so many ba d  things  about the centre ,i wouldn't even think of sending my kids there .I be reporting this  as no child  deserve that .

I think it not safe for the child to be there if she droping  the child  into the cot , its child abuse  and the child could end with brain  damage if  the bumping there head  or possiable  be doing damage to other parts of the child boby .

Re: what would you do

After my experience with ABC nothing would suprise me. I honestly wonder how they are still open. Not that it does no happen in other centers but they are the big company. I am discusted by them and never will send my kids there and I tell my story  to anyone that wants to send their kids there.

report them.

Re: what would you do

Children and Elderly get abused in institutions, because people are afraid to speak up. Your sister has a duty of care towards the children in her place of work, as does your brother in law. If they have seen this happen, and done nothing, then if this was Britain, they would be culpable in the neglect. We all have a duty and responsability to stop abuse dead, before death occurs, because that is the worst case senario and left unchecked abusers escalate. You have to encourage your sister and brother in law to report the abuse, because it is abuse. If you also report, it will give weight to the accusation and swift action will hopefully be taken. I am sorry if I sound harsh, but speed is of the essence. It does not take much force to kill a baby and being dropped into a cot can do it. If a child gets hurt or killed in your sisters place of work, the stigma will affect all staff not just the perpetrator. Please encourage them to get all staff on side and get this sorted, for the children and themselves.

Re: what would you do

Hey Bel, If i was in your situation i would report the centre anonomously to the department of human services as this is child abuse. I know where you are coming from and what happens at the centre is disgusting! I would never place my children in ABC learning centres as they call them i have heard too many bad stories wether they be true or not i do not know! This poor child being fed toast out of a bin yuk! As far as putting the child into a cot from heights is very dangerous as we all know. This child could get really hurt and the sad thing is it willl be the parents who get the blame no-one else! Please Bel contact someone and make a complaint. If you do not want to make the complaint give me the centre name and address and i will do it for you. That way you are not at risk from your sister etc... accusing you of doing it! I will help you do what is roght for all the children in the centre!!

Thinking of you and please do not hesitate to give me details and i will help you!!

Hugs Michelle xxx ooo

Re: what would you do
I really think you need to report this if your SIL doesnt. If this person can do these things to the kids whilst infront of other staff, then imagine what she must be doing when alone! Just tell me tho...what state is this centre in? You have me worried now.

Re: what would you do
I would report it.  Not to the centre, but to the people who inspect all daycares.  they have to keep your name out of it, and can be sued if they don't.  I have heard a lot of bad things to do with ABC learning centres, and won't allow my kids to go to the ones here.

What you have described is abuse, particularly dropping babies into the cots.  That can cause brain damage, much like shaken baby syndrome.

You do what you think is best, but I would be reporting it!

Re: what would you do

OMG that's discussing behaviour on behalf of the childcare worker & if I was in your position I would definitely tell someone.

My daughter goes to a ABC centre in Hoppers Crossing Melbourne & I hope it's not that center!!

You need to tell someone straight away because what if it was your child being treated like that?

Please let me know the centre this is happening at?

Re: what would you do
I totally agree with everyone here, this needs to be reported ASAP, before a child gets hurt, this is abuse and so cruel. If sister is a afraid of   speaking up, you should report this yourself anonymously, even hear say, will wave a red flag and hopefully a investigation. I'd also be following it up to see if something is done.

Re: what would you do
Sweetie that is DISGUSTING and dangerous - this person needs to be investigated. Look into the eyes of your little angels - you know damn well you would flatten anyone who mistreated them.  As adults, it is our job to ensure ALL children in the community are cared for and loved the way they should be.

I think you need to make sure that either your sister, or yourself advise the centre Director that you have heard about this, and make sure that it is investigated further.  If the accusations are unsubstantiated, then there is nothing for the person to worry about - if they are true - the centre is accountable.

If you are afraid to do it, Minti mail me and I will do it myself!

Re: what would you do
Hi
If i even hear word or whisper that this is happening i would be reporting regardless
We pay them to nurture our children.  Your sister needs to report it totally regardless of who it is as she is breaching her duty of care as well by seeing stuff like this and not reporting it
Put it this way if it was my child that this was happening to i would want to know and would take any parent who knew what was going on and didn't speak up as well
I saw a child treated very badly once in a child care center and reported it immediately  The mother was wondering how her child was getting the bruises...
There is no excuse at all for this type of behaviour and they should be struck of the blue card and child care lists everywhere
How long before a child gets seriously injured or worse.
Would you want this happening to your child?
Just my opinion
If you dont want to report them then give me the center and i will

Re: what would you do

Lordy...the gal should be reported to the supervisors, or to child care protection if your sister doesn't want to be known.

My son, a terror, and an angel with horn had and has so many 'invisible disabilities' I would be in horror if someone did this to him, no matter if it is done out of dislike, the gal should not be working with children if she has this type of mantality towards a child who has no control over impulse or she should take corrective actions to teach the proper behaivor!

Take care, Simba1

Re: what would you do
Ohhhh WOW, this sounds to me like it is abuse! I would report it immediately,if the persons are innocent then they have no fears about getting investigated.

Just a  question? Do day care center's have video monitors? sorry I just assumed they would. I have not had my child in one so I  do not know?

My query was put forth cause I would think that the monitors would show any misconduct. I am appalled at what you have written, this is horrific to think of children being abused like this....

Please keep us posted on this

regards

Flossy X

Re: what would you do
I agree, You need to put in a complaint. People that do those things shouldnt be working with children, or anyone who is unable to look after themselves. Thats very scary. As a parent with a  child in childcare. I would hope any mismanaged care gets reported, so everyone's children are safe, not just mine. I couldnt live with myself if something happened to a child and I didnt say something and Im guessing you would be the same. The possibile complications from toast in a rubbish bin are huge for a child. this needs to be stopped before a childs health is effected past healing. good luck.

Re: what would you do

OMG! ! ! That behaviour is totally appalling!

I wouldn't even hesitate on reporting this information. This person should not be looking after children! Please make that call and do it asap - the longer its left the more chance that this person could hurt a child!

It's people with that sort of behaviour that seriously stop me from using childcare centres.

Cheers Kellz

Re: what would you do
i would be ringing ABC learning centres head office and putting in a formal complaint if you have her name even better.
This is why ABC got a bad rap a couple of years ago that is child abuse and there are many forms and that is one.
if you did nothing you are basically saying it is alright for her to act like this
love stace
