Is she having a miscarriage?

I have a friend who about 4-5 weeks ago found out she was pregnant via HPT.She hadn't seen her doctor yet before she had sex with her boyfriend about 3 weeks ago and she started to bleed. There was no pain just blood, to which she said it stopped that night. She assumed she miscarried, and never went to the dr despite my urging. Ever since she has been spotting. Last week she took another test and it was still very much a positive result. She finally went to the dr last week and he ordered blood tests.well she stiill hasn't taken the blood test yet.

Is it possible she miscarried? I dont think she has personally but i am no expert. I will drag her to get the blood test today if i have to,but would love to hear what you think. Love this girl but trying to get her to look after herself and her wellbeing is a bit like banging my head against a brick wall.

Thanks

Re: Is she having a miscarriage?

I have had bleeding after sex (once, mine too stoped that night but the amount was alot) and spotting lots with this pregnancy. I am still pregnant and bub is perfectly fine. Not saying this is definatly the case with you friend but get her to the doc. If she was trying to get pregnant then this is a much wanted pregnancy and the only way to get her to the doc maybe to tell her to think of the baby. Tell her that it may not just be her health she need to think of.

Re: Is she having a miscarriage?

Hi there get your friend to go get the blood tests done. In some woman when pregnant will have spotting this can be normal. But in saying this there is a blood group a- that when pregnant if you have any bleeding even spotting you need to go tothe dr/hospital to have an anti-d injection. This is due to the blood producing antibodies if the mothers blood is different to the baby. This injection is to prevent the womans body/blood producing anti bodies and fighting the source of the problem. I have heard that if unattended when have bleeding and a- blood group the body can actually find the source and it will eventually fight it until the source is no longer!(ending in miscarriage). I do not say this to scare yourself or your friend but it is good for woman to know this also. The dr may arrange an ultrasound to check on the foetus and wether she is actually miscarriaging or not.

I know it is hard to get someone to go to the dr when they do not want to but make an appointment and then take her along even if you need tot ell her that you would like her to go with you, if you see what i am saying. She needs to get medical advice spotting in pregnancy usually is nothing but can also mean there is something wrong within.

Good luck with it all and please keep us up to date with how she goes at dr if you get her there!

Hugs Michelle

Re: Is she having a miscarriage?

When I had my first son I spotted and then continued to do so throughout the pregnancy when my period was due.

My Dr checked everything and all was well, take your friend to the Dr and have her checked out its quite possible she hasnt miscarried then again if she has she needs to make sure everything is OK ayway.

Re: Is she having a miscarriage?

my advice as i have only just had one, would be to get her to go and get the blood test done so that her doctor can get the results and start to help her, i would also be asking for an ultra sound to, that way the doctor can see what is going on and what might be causing the bleeding,

i am off to the doctor today as i feel that there might still be something there, but please help your friend to do the blood test and to talk to the doctor,

another thing is that in some cases it can be normal to bleed in pregnancy but it is best to get it checked straight away, if anything just to be sure,

there is also some really good advice on this subject and written by mums who have been through a miscarriage if you can get her to read them, as they might help if only a little bit, if you want to talk about this please feel free to minti mail me,

good luck and i hope that she gets some answers soon,
