Has anyone fallen pregnant with a mirena?

Hi all

I have had a mirena in now for just over 3 years.  I usually get spotting when I should but this month ......I didn't.....I did do a test about a week ago and it said negative.  But still no spotting?  I'm starting to get other symptoms like pain in my abdomen, breast tenderness and have been very tired all week.  It's all very wierd and think I was due about 3 weeks ago.  Does anyone know the symptoms of PID?

Re: Has anyone fallen pregnant with a mirena?
i had a mirena coil and feel pregnant so its not impossible and never say never, i have a normal coil in now without any extra hormones and for the past nine months its been in, it seems ok but as i said before never say never. i have had the implanon and been on the pill and all of which have fallen although only one pregancy full term. its so hard to find what works for us all when we dont want children at a particular time but you have to find whats right for you.

You could be preggy....I've had PID and it's no joke.  It is very painful in your pelvic area all the time.  You can get a fever, feel like throwing up and it can be painful to go to the bathroom...breast tenderness is not a symptom of PID...The pain you get can be dull, or sharp shooting pain.  It can increase when you walk or sit.  It ususally feels better with a heat pad and pressure, however it increases when you let off the sore area.  If this sounds like what you have, get to the doc imediately.  PID can lead to other internal infections, including pockets of infections(which may need surgery) and scaring of the tubes which can lead to etopic pregnancies or infertility

Re: Has anyone fallen pregnant with a mirena?
Thankyou all for your replies to my panicked question.  I did get tested again by the doctor about a weeks ago - negative again.  So we left it for a week to see what would happen.  Over the weekend, I got more nauseous and more pain - not all the time but on and off.  So went back to the doctor again yesterday who did an ultrasound - all came back ok, but the doctor has now referred my on to a gyno.  Think I'll just get the mirena out while I'm there and hopefully he'll (or she'll) figure out what is going on whilst there, as still no period.  Hope it's not endometriosis.  Or maybe it's just the mirena my body is not agreeing with all of a sudden?
