stuffy nose

Hi everyone,

Lyliana will be 18 months tomorrow, the problem is she can't breath out of her nose.  For the last two days, her nose has been all pluged up. she can't even drink her bottle.  she does not have a cough or a fever.  she's a little cranky but nothing else is wrong.  i was just wondering if anyone knows of something that might help clear up her nose.

Thanks michelle

Re: stuffy nose
Try keeping a cold water humidifier in her room all the time. Sounds like she may have some allergies. My son is that way sometimes and we keep one in his room all the time and it helps him. Try putting some Vicks Vapor Rub for Baby on her chest too at night.

Ahhh poor little thing. Nothing is worse than that in little ones, have you seen a doctor? She could have allergies or a sinus infection. If she's always clogged up and there is little colour to it,allergies,if it is dark or brown or green, infection of the sinuses. All the Ladies gave great advice and I hope you get some relief for her

Re: stuffy nose
I had this problem before, i shut myself and baby in the bathroom and blasted the shower really hot until it was really steamy and just sat there a while. The steam helps loosen any gunk and makes their nose run and clears it out

Re: stuffy nose
Yep, what the other's said - saline nasal spray is the best thing to use as it's safe and clears the nose!

Re: stuffy nose

I was just going to say what the other 2 members said.. it works.. not as well as a decongestant would but it still does the trick. I used it while I was pregnant with her because a decongestant makes your heart pound harder, pumping more blood (I guess that is why it is not recommended for use while being pregnant)

Another solution is try putting a humidifer in her room when she goes to bed. That will help her.. I noticed when I put my daughter in the bathtub to give her a bath her nose ran like crazy because of the steam from the bath. So that's what the humidifier will do..

My daughter just got over this.. Finally for about 2.5 weeks of it, she never had a cough either but did get a fever at the end of it.

Good luck.. If none of these work.. Ask your pharmacy and they will be able to help you OR make an appointment to see your doctor.

Re: stuffy nose
Fess Saline spray works really well, humidifiers are also fantastic....

try massaging gently either side of the bridge of her nose it will ease it for a little

Good Luck
