My little man is teething I can see a littl white lump on is swollen gum and it feels rough. He is so cranky and just crying hysterically, for short periods. I have given panadol, Bruers teething liquid a cold/frozen face washer to suck on and a cold teething ring nothing seems to help....
What can I do to help my poor little man and to save my sanity???He is 51/2 mths old.
i used to let my kids chew my finger, it hurts a bit but they didnt cry. apart from the teething jellys and syrips and panadol its about all you can do. the chew rings help, keep them cool.
good luck and it should be over in a few days till the next lot start
Give your little one some infants Motrin. That's what I did and it worked wonderfully. It lasts longer than Tylenol too. Just give it every six hours I believe and in between you can give him infants Tylenol. They both come with eyedroppers to administer. I still give those to my 4 year old only in the childrens doses and it still works wonders. You can tell immediately when it kicks in. And it may help him sleep a little better too. Bless his little heart. Someone told me that if we as adults would go through teething like babies do, it would literally drive us nuts. Hope it helps you and him.
5 1/2 months is hard as it is difficult to distract them. Sometimes when teething they get a sore jaw and sometimes even an ear ache. The cold can make that worse. Is he rubbing one side of his face more than the other. If so try a warm face cloth held to that side of his jaw up to and behind the ear.
Strangely enough, vegemite can work wonders - just watch the salt intake. If he is old enough, and he is only two weeks away from six months, give him a teething rusk. We use the vegetable based ones and they work a treat. Leading brand of rusk, just vegetable based I think. Helps the tooth break through quicker. The other alternative is to try a frozen carrot stick - fairly thick and choose a really hard one - not a soft one.
try a different brand of pain relef other than panadol (that never worked for my son) and try a teething tablet avaiable from the chemist. Other than those you seem to be doing a good job.
yeah bonjella is good but I wanted something natural as that has panadol in it this way we could give the liquid and panadol if needed. Oh well after 2 x 20min naps he is now sleeping it off (the crying and crizzling etc..) This time I could get him to go back to sleep after 20min
