Hi all. Just a quick question, my 3 week old has yellow poop that looks like thick soup. I thought this was normal until a friend changed her today and commented that it looked like diarroeah. She isn't grizzly and is feeding fine. Does anyone know if this is normal? Or what her poop is supposed to look like? She is breastfed btw.
Sounds normal to me, I once was told it should resemble mustard, I think it was the chn, lovely image for me, not really into mustard anymore, but sounds like you dont really have anything to worry about! Have fun!
Sounds like a healthy breastfed baby nappy to me. I wouldn't worry to much unless there is fever or dehydration present. Obviously, your friend has either forgoten what newborns nappies are like or she never breastfed. When I had all my 4, I was given a chart of what their poo should look like. Disgusting, but was a big help. Maybe you could ask your child health nurse for one.
My twins have had this kind of poop too, and nothing is really wrong with them...or at least not that I know of. Sometimes it's green, sometimes it's yellow... it's like a rainbow. LOL
Yup anniebabe gave great advice...mine is sleepers(ones with the feet in) are great for breast fed babies...we all know why! Again, really not as sad as I was that those days are past for me. LOL!!! Congradulations on your new baby!
haha sounds like my bubs poop! if breastfed it should normally smell sortof like butter adn be thick yellow stuff like you discribed, diarreah is normally watery like annie said and often slightly green. i woudlnt worry bout what your friend said sometimes ppl forget after awhile what babies are actually like hahah
first up when your breast feeding what you as a mum eats affects baby ie goes through to the breast milk secondly when i had my second child he was born in january my gyno told me to limit the amount of stoned fruit (as they are in season ) eg cherries plums apricots nectarines peaches as they could cause the baby to have the runs. stools are usually soft in babies. however if they are too runny (especially if its like water ) then its sounds like diarrea but you say its more like thick soup it sounds normal. if you have noticed a change from baby's previous stools then maybe have her checked by your doctor. if you go to a health sister (are they still around these days? ) get her advice. try to eat as healthy as possible. limit caffeine alchol intake and sugar intake. your friend probably means well but remember not all babies are the same. 2 things to bear though is how runny is it? and how frequent ? to put your mind at rest a visit to the doctor might be worth it as the doctor will also check baby"s temp take care dont fret as baby will pick up on your vibes cheers annie
