Advice needed!

I have a almost 18 month old daughter who has been a good night time sleeper majority of the time. HOWEVER, the last 4 days/nights she has been a complete different baby. She absolutely refuses to go to bed, she is fine when i first lay her down with her bottle but the minute i close the door she starts screaming & crying hysterically. This continues for almost an hour before she will finally collapse & fall asleep. I have tried resettling her numerous times but NOTHING is working. I'm at my witts end, i am going to strangle her soon! I dont know what to do any more :(

It's not like there's anything wrong with her otherwise she would be like that during the day as well, not just at sleep times. It's doing my bloody head in!

I have also tried putting a night light in her room thinking that maybe she is getting scared of the dark, but nope! no change.

Please help!

Re: Advice needed!

maybe ask her during the day wats bothering her at night time. Maybe she may not want her door closed fully or something like that.

good luck with it all.

Re: Advice needed!
My son is exactly the same.. He started this when we moved him into his big bed.. It really does my head in to the point that I have often turned to tears.....

My solution was to let the hubby do it, he has bed time duty now and it takes two hours less for him to get him to sleep.. I actually have to hide in the basement because if he hears my voice he won't go to sleep at all....

I really feel for you I do...
I hope it all works out soon for you ...xxxx

Re: Advice needed!

Has anything changed recently?

My daughter's the same age, and was doing the same thing about a week or so ago. I was about to throw her out the window (j/k child services ppl!) when I realized that the neighbours had put up Christmas lights and they were shining into her room at night. I think the light was bothering her, or the flashing lights were freaking her out and she was getting scared by them. I just got thicker blinds and she's sleeping normally again.

It could be anything like that... are you running a humidifier or a fan when you didn't before? Did a neighbour get a new dog that barks? Something like that could be keeping her up or scaring her.

Also, she could have a mild ear infection, and it could only be bothering her when she's laying down with her bottle. Something about the pressure of sucking and laying down I think.

Good luck!

Re: Advice needed!

Hopefully this will be of some help to you but i have found that with my kids they could be fantastic sleepers one minute and then not the next!  Why?  who knows, they get older and wiser maybe?  My middle child was fine until about 9 months and then for ages he'd wake up about 4-5 times before he was down for the night...it was maddening, difficult and frustrating but it did pass.

i think we often don't know why these episodes happen but if we just go with the flow and do what you have to do to get her to go to bed, you know stick to your routine and be consistent it will phase out eventually.  Look for obvious signs like teething, thirsty, hot cold, clean nappy etc and just keep reassuring her.

i know it's hard and i hope it passes soon

julie xx

Re: Advice needed!
But that shouldn't affect just her sleeping should it?
