easy way around that is don't. we co-slept with rhiannon till 6ish months and she was never away from us at night. logan didn't leave my side for the first two and a half years as far as overnight stays where concerned. we never day napped with the kids so not sure about how that would work. logan was in the cot for day naps and rhiannon always fell asleep in her chair.

Re: co-sleeping and the babysitter
I only let my MIL sleep with my babies as she was very good about not moving...Other then me, they did not sleep with anyone for a long time.  My girl was about walking age before she spent the night at her sunts house, and then they put pillows around her so she would not get hurt.  My boy still is with me, at almost 4m, and he wont stay at anyone's house until he is almost walking age as well, just cause we have our baby girl and I don't want her to be upset if he were to leave for the night...(she has seperation anxiety issues right now)

Re: co-sleeping and the babysitter

Hi there.

I co-slept with my baby til he was 2 1/2 months old. I think letting anyone else sleep with your baby is a bad idea. You are in tune with your baby like noone else is, when bubs moves, so do you. I wouldn't take the risk that whoever you leave your baby with is a heavy sleeper and may not be aware of the baby in the bed once they are completely asleep.

If you do have to leave your baby with someone else over night, i would suggest having bub in a portacot in the room with them. That way bub can still sense people there and the babysitter can still hear and check on bub. I would also put a shirt, or pillow case that smells like you in the cot (somewhere safe). Being able to smell you should help bub to settle aswell.
