self settles in the pram but not in the cot!

Chloe is 10 months old and has always been a fantastic sleeper apart from the past couple of months.  Tonight we have friends coming over to babysit her as my husband and I are off on a date.  Due to the fact that Chloe has been so hard to settle in her cot today for her day sleeps I put her in her pram (at least if she wakes while they are looking after her they can just rock the pram) and she self-settled herself within 5 mins for both of her day sleeps.  This is completely different to how she has been.  When she is put in her cot she constantly stands and if I am not in the room she screams until I come in, lay her back down and sit by her cot.  Someone please explain???

Re: self settles in the pram but not in the cot!

This happened to my daugther at 10 months, she is 11 months now. She was an angel to pout down till she could crawl.

She started standing in cot and crying even if I put her in sleepy, then falls happen and makes it in to a drama.

I figured she felt trapped in the cot now and knew there was way to much action to miss out on and knew she would be there for ages. I can not put her in sleepy now to self settle and she is too young to reason with so now I rock her in my arms till she is cold out with her bunny and singing or bottle, then I put her in asleep, I also expaned the awake times to 4 hours so she is more tired.

Good luck, I know it was a shock to me to that they change so quickly

i agree with arna also if the pram is close and snug she will find it more secure then a big empty cot.. have you tried to securely fit a small babies pillow in the cot i did this for my little one when she was 5 t 6 mo old and it worked a treat also has she a teddy she can cuddle??? may help?

You have answered your own question.  It is the rocking motion that your girl likes, same with most babies.  I would suggest holding and rocking her to sleep, especially if she has a bottle.  It is a security thing, and by this age, they are wanting to push the boundaries and see just how far they can push you.  She will grow out of it and back into and out of this stage for a while.
