backpain after childbirth

for the last 5 months ive been suffering chronic back

ive looked to see if any similar pain was suffered by a member cant seem to find

i attend  physio regulary was there this morning not looking for exercises of any sort but any ideas how to relief pain would be great (apart from hot baths which i do every 2nd day)

as my baby is getting heavier my pain is getting worse..i need to add that ive had quite afew operations to left arm in the past and have been left with only about 20% movemnet in taht shouder, left arm  quite weak so with bubba getting older its becoming difficult

mondays i have off work now but even then i send bubba off too child care to minimise lifting untill my partner gets home...however he was sick today and my back is worse then ever lifted him all day..

before my operations i never suffered backpain maybe midly due to osteoathiritis and even during labour only slighty again....my main promblem is lifting the child and the many jerks my back suffers when my left arm goes to drift and i do a throw up motion.of thechild .....thru that i have advoided using these muscles because of pain and now they are very weak

im looking forward in working with my  new physio over a long term.  massages and excersise ive got down pat but its a slow proccess as we are working on my arm as well.

the pain is always there and the shooting pains that bring me to my knees is so bad i cry out and continue cying for a while...as it scarces me ...i suppose am always afraid it will come when im holding bubba which it has

i was very carefull in choosing the right baby equipment but theres not much help out there when u go shopping in choosing correct equipment for women with disabilities

may i state here i purchased a maclaren stroller xt which is highly reccomend for any one with upper body disabilities..its taken a hammering many times when its thrown and i mean thrown in the back off the car and it still stands....very easy to manoeveure even with one hand

anyway just after any advice or hints in elleviate severe back pain thankyou

Re: backpain after childbirth

Hi I hope this post finds you well,

Just like the others I agree... Go to a chiropractor. But make sure you find one that warms you up for about 20 to 30 mins before they adjust you, Through massage. Yes I know you you already have massages and thats great. But being warmed up makes the adjustments easier and more effective.

Good Luck

I agree, try going to a chiropracter, I've been going to one for ages, even went during my pregnancy all they way till I was about 36 weeks.   Shop around it is trial and error with a chiro until you find one you like, much like finding a good doctor or hairdresser LOL

I was going to a chiro near me and found it ok for awhile but they didn't really spend time with me in and out in a matter of seconds, and I was getting headaches.  My Partner put me on to his chiro and he is just lovely.  Spends time with you talks things though gives me a massage before he adjusts me.  If I have a problem say my neck then he will work on that but do the other areas as well.

You have to have patience and keep up with the exercises.  It is hard but try to minimize the amount of times you pick your baby up and try not to hold him for too long also.  If you can try to hold him in front of you with two hands then do, not on your hip.   If you are holding on the hip then you need to balance it out.  Not just one hip all the time.

Good luck hope this helps

Re: backpain after childbirth
forgot to add be mindful of how you pick your baby up eg. bend at the knees and keep your back straight.etcc..  you probably already know that though LOL   Also don't sit around if your in pain, try and go for a walk, exercise is good for the back.  Take the kids with you to the park put bubs in the stroller and just walk.

Re: backpain after childbirth
Have you gone to a chiropracter?  They work wonders for back pain.  They usually take an x-ray first to see what everything looks like, then they develope a plan with you to realign your back, hip and shoulders as well as muslce therepy...I went to one after I can in a car accident and it helped me so much.  I suffer from fibromyalgia and it helped with that too.  It's very normal to have some back pain because all your ligaments and joints are very lose from the pregnancy.  This can worsen your already painful muscles and joints.   But the cant work wonders, so give them a try.  It's great cause you get like this mini massage( with electric stimulation) and then they adjust everything.  It takes time, because they move things around and your body has to learn to stay that way and the muscles have to heal and strengthen, but it's worth it!
