Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

there is so many groups so little time ..........am i alone when asking what do the idiot free zone chat about ???? so few members but plenty of posts ...its a free world and all however could someone tell me  'who watches the watchers'

frankly ive been here for a while have disagreed with afew people but nevertheless my experience has been fruitfull......do we need a small and secretive society keeping a watch ..id love a look in but considering there is trend towards their small member base id doubt to get a look in

wouldnt it be great if such a group OPEN UP TO PUBLIC GALLERY so we could all could contribute to keeping minti free of "idiots" . wouldnt that be something !

maybe someone in the group could let us know "who watches the watches"

sorry to go anon but would like my experience to stay fruitfull

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

You might want to read here about why private groups are private. Private groups are there for private discussion, and they may need to know more about you especially since you are new on Minti.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Hi

I have recently joined this group purely because it is a group where I can say what I like without anyone having a go at me. From what I have read, it is not a "bitch fest" or anything infact i am still yet to see anyone name names ect. It is simply a group where u can say your piece and know full well that it will be taken as is..nothing more, nothing less. Everyone is equal, on common ground and noone is better/worse than another. As for the name...Im sure it is just a name and just because u may not have been accepted doesnt mean u r an idiot. I believe there may be an element of trust involved in being accepted into this group and I am sure once the administrator has looked u up and "sussed" you out, u may find that u could be accepted then. I have be refused a group before and I am still awaiting 3 requests. Nothing to worry about tho...i will wait.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Well I guess this question only exists because the member who wrote it is new.  You can do a search on the Idiot Free Zone and come up with a few different blogs and comments that I have written on the site in regard to it, and there are also quite a few blogs and advice about groups on the Minti website in general.

1.  I am the administrator of the Idiot Free Zone.  If you would like to know more about the group in general, read this blog:  Idiot Free Zone - Play Nice or Go Home.

2.  If you need to know more about what the group might be about, there is also this blog, and this blog which are 'Idiot Free Zone' also, however written for public view.

3.  My advice about Where To Blog also contains quite a bit of information about groups, which should give you a clearer understanding of the groups available, and the types of groups on the site.

4.  To date there are at least a couple of hidden groups (don't look for them, you won't find them); there are 61 private groups - you can't see the blogs, and you need to request to be a member to do so; 14 restricted group, you can see the blogs, however you need to request to be a member to comment or blog in them; there are 100's of public groups, you can see the blogs in them, and to join you put in a request that is automatically accepted, this allows you to blog and comment in them.

5.  I respond to each group request personally, and if I don't know someone at all - then I like to 'sound out' the person, and find out what their motivation for joining is, and their idea of what the group is about.  If I think the individual has the same general ideals and interests as those in the group, and is discreet, then of course I accept them.

6.  If I have not responded to you, then you wouldn't know if you have been accepted or rejected.  If you withdraw your group request, then I won't bother to resond to the original group request email.  Keep in mind, if I am not online, it is a pretty sure bet that I won't be responding

7.  Admin have access to EVERY area of the Minti site, so you need not worry about who is watching the watchers or guarding the guards.

8.  The group started because there are many aspects of Minti which do NOT interest me, and I find that the topics we discuss, the pictures we post and the fun chats we have in there DO interest me.

9.  ANYONE can start their own group, about anything they like and make the status of that group, private, restricted or public.

I won't be bothering to provide any further explanation, as I really think that I have given this anonymous posting far more attention than it deserves.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

i agree with jo

it's just a group where we can say anything we wont without the reprecustions and misunderstandings that happen in the public playground of minti. its just a bunch of friends being frank and honest

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Maybe it's the title that makes it intriguing, well it could refer to 100's of things.....i wouldn't worry about it.  Nothing sinister has been going on there, a place to say what you think so you don't have to go anon, i think.  I wouldn't take it personally.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

i think the title is confusing and i can see why it would be offensive to some ...can someone tell what the criteria is to become a member is not clear and therefore is causing unnecessary but valid arguments

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Hmm, I think any forum is as fruitful to each of us as we personaly make it. People can choose to make their time here public or private, with like minds, or with opposites, for encouragement or support. It is up to each individual. If people choose to have private groups with like minded people, it should not take away from our participation or fruitful time on minti. Why the concern, does privacy of others worry you. Dont let it, Admin watches the watchers. It is their responsability to keep the site legal, the rest is of no worry. To open a private group to a gallery of spectators breaks the contract of privacy with admin and in some groups, could infact put abused womens lives in danger. To open one group is to open all groups, a dangerous route to go down and takes away from the idea and fruitfulness of minti. I am not a member of IFZ, and have no interest in what goes on. Why? because privacy is something each human is entitled to even on a public forum.

Luv, Winnie.xx

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Personally anyone who wants to start a private group, good on them

I have enough worries in the real world to be anxious and paranoid that there are groups set up to be a secret society, if anyone wants to have a go at me, feel free, I'm used to it in the town I live.

I am on Minti for my own pleasure and fulfillment, I love reading as much as I can but I know there are a lot of groups I am not a part of, does that worry me ????????? No I am more than happy with my own corner of Minti, far too comforting to live in your own bubble without worrying about everyone else and their business

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Well said lovely lady, How many private groups on minti are there, they all have their own little "special" names.....  What people talk about in these groups is the business of those in them......  This is a seperate world, a fantasy world if you like, its not the real world.....  Get off the computer and go and talk to nature, enjoy the world we live in, have a conversation with your neighbour, you will be amazed at how this little world online is really not that important xx

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Ohhhh lol i think you'd be so disappointed, its basically a group were you say what you want to without all the crap or arguments no one disagrees no ganging up on members etc

But i see your point of view and id be happy for them to open the group up for 24 hrs and let you have a lookie inside pandora's box i really dont think there is anything to hide the majority of the posts are of yummy men hehe its a straight forward group no complications voice your opinion have a giggle just forget being politically correct.

Unfortunatly its not my group so I cant say what will happen.

Hugs Jo xxx

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Hmmmmmmmmmm, perhaps you have a good point.

Some smaller groups are known for their underhanded behaviour as has been evident in the past.  I do know that ADMIN can look inside ALL minti groups so I assume you could call them 'the watchers'...

Any particular reason for singling out the Idiot Free Zone??? ROFL as i am curious, if you have some proof af wrong doing I stong suggest you contact ADMIN!

Cheers Kellz

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

* Being ex-member's you would both be aware that the group is private, so non-members have no access to the group, so they would have no reason to report it.

* You would also know that none of the blogs or comments in the group actually breach any Minti guidelines, and there are members of admin in the group, and if they felt anything was inappropriate, I would expect they would advise us themselves... After all, they own the site, and deem what is and isn't suitable.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

There isn't any thing in IFZ that is deemed as unsuitable. However, there is another group that I have my eye on which is also private.

I suspect that people are curious about IFZ because it is a private group that is at the top of the groups list - just like The Den was high on the list at one stage and people got curious about it.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Well i think that is a bit strange since admin of the group in question has not been online since 8am yesterday i think u will find a member has to be online to reject  besides it does not really matter what the members of IFZ talk about its a private group there are many of them on minti why question IFZ out of all the private groups in the list ?
