Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Well I guess this question only exists because the member who wrote it is new. You can do a search on the Idiot Free Zone and come up with a few different blogs and comments that I have written on the site in regard to it, and there are also quite a few blogs and advice about groups on the Minti website in general.
1. I am the administrator of the Idiot Free Zone. If you would like to know more about the group in general, read this blog: Idiot Free Zone - Play Nice or Go Home.
2. If you need to know more about what the group might be about, there is also this blog, and this blog which are 'Idiot Free Zone' also, however written for public view.
3. My advice about Where To Blog also contains quite a bit of information about groups, which should give you a clearer understanding of the groups available, and the types of groups on the site.
4. To date there are at least a couple of hidden groups (don't look for them, you won't find them); there are 61 private groups - you can't see the blogs, and you need to request to be a member to do so; 14 restricted group, you can see the blogs, however you need to request to be a member to comment or blog in them; there are 100's of public groups, you can see the blogs in them, and to join you put in a request that is automatically accepted, this allows you to blog and comment in them.
5. I respond to each group request personally, and if I don't know someone at all - then I like to 'sound out' the person, and find out what their motivation for joining is, and their idea of what the group is about. If I think the individual has the same general ideals and interests as those in the group, and is discreet, then of course I accept them.
6. If I have not responded to you, then you wouldn't know if you have been accepted or rejected. If you withdraw your group request, then I won't bother to resond to the original group request email. Keep in mind, if I am not online, it is a pretty sure bet that I won't be responding
7. Admin have access to EVERY area of the Minti site, so you need not worry about who is watching the watchers or guarding the guards.
8. The group started because there are many aspects of Minti which do NOT interest me, and I find that the topics we discuss, the pictures we post and the fun chats we have in there DO interest me.
9. ANYONE can start their own group, about anything they like and make the status of that group, private, restricted or public.
I won't be bothering to provide any further explanation, as I really think that I have given this anonymous posting far more attention than it deserves.

Re: Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
Hmm, I think any forum is as fruitful to each of us as we personaly make it. People can choose to make their time here public or private, with like minds, or with opposites, for encouragement or support. It is up to each individual. If people choose to have private groups with like minded people, it should not take away from our participation or fruitful time on minti. Why the concern, does privacy of others worry you. Dont let it, Admin watches the watchers. It is their responsability to keep the site legal, the rest is of no worry. To open a private group to a gallery of spectators breaks the contract of privacy with admin and in some groups, could infact put abused womens lives in danger. To open one group is to open all groups, a dangerous route to go down and takes away from the idea and fruitfulness of minti. I am not a member of IFZ, and have no interest in what goes on. Why? because privacy is something each human is entitled to even on a public forum.
Luv, Winnie.xx
