another food question.. most of you know bubs is 7mths old eating fairly well untill this morning LOL
Anyway my question is can I introduce tomato in to his diet with other vegies. I was wondering about the acidic thing. We have no allergies in our family both sides.
If we have no allergies can I introduce anything. I know I can't do soft cheeses and milk but what else??
I don't see why you can't give tomato. Just don't get carried away and keep an eye out for bad diaper rash.
Also, if you are going to give just raw tomato, watch for contact rash around the mouth. My son developed a bit of rash around his mouth the first time he tried it. And it appeared instantly too (within 10-15 minutes).
I was never too worried about allergies either - i have been very lucky- but watch out for acidic foods. Introduce a little and wait a day. Watch for a nappy rash if that happens it might be a bit much yet. I tried to introduce watered down juice (if you really want tomatoes introduce then try tom juice) but this caused a bad nappy rash in my son. So tried it in watered down juice first this will be less acidic for bub.
I would hold off on the tomatoes, as well as strawberris, citric food, nuts and anything with milk, with the exception of yogurt. Doc told me milk stuff, excpet cheese and yogurt should be avoided, and the others because they are considered high allergy foods. We don't have allergies in either my hubby or my family and my girl has egg and nut allergies....So not having allergies in the family, the baby can still get them.... Happy eating!

My friends' docs told them they could feed straight juice when my doc prefers watered down juice to avoid my child from acquiring a sweet tooth too soon, and I liked the healthier approach versus a not so healthy one. In the end it is up to you.
I don't know how your pediatrician is, but I don't think it would hurt to call them and ask them. I totally took advantage of my daughter's pediatriician's phone number...shoot, I still do. The nurses and docs know your baby and the progression so they'll give you a list of what you can and can't feed your little one.
