Re: chewing fists

My twins did this at about 3 months. They just try to stuff their fists in their mouths. They are now 8 months and still have no teeth. LOL

They just like something in their mouths to suck on, it makes them feel better. Try a pacifier. Or, some other clean fuzz free cloth.

One of my girls was so fussy once (but they refuse the pacifier), so I gave her the burp cloth I had and she went right to sleep with it.

Re: chewing fists

as others have said he could be just discovering his hands or he could be like my son and be a comfort sucker. Before and after feeds or just any time he wanted to suck on anything. A dummy helped us.

Re: chewing fists

hey there

its all very normal!

could be ongoing 'fisting' or a delayed 'fisting' (child discovering they have hands!)

my bubs also chewed his feet!

and ofcourse theres teething

plenty of information here at minti just punch key words into the search engine

Re: chewing fists

hi,

my now nearly 7 month old did this also, i thought it was just her discovering her hands and sure enough before she turned 6 months her front bottom teeth came through.

its possible he is teething.

Re: chewing fists

It could be that he is teething, but also he has probably just discovered his hands my son use to do this just about all day every day.  He is 8mths now and still some times does it.  It is all about discovering and learning.  Next on the line is everything he can find and pick up will go in the mouth.  This will continue for a very long time, but eventually they grow out of it.

Re: chewing fists

chances are he is teething or just discovering that he has hands - and exploring what he can do with them!

It is a normal part of a baby's development and nothing to worry about! Just give him a very cold face washer and a teething rusk to chew on as this may help his teeth if he is teething!
