Grinding teeth

I have just notice my 6 month old grinding his teeth. He only has 2 bottom and 4 top. Is this normal? If so why does he do it?

Re: Grinding teeth

Yes, mine has done this as well.  It is called Bruxism, if it continues get it seen to because it can be damaging.

Re: Grinding teeth

Totally normal.  Usually stops.  I think it is because they are there!  Especially when they weren't before.  Before it was just gummies, now there are these hard things that if you rub them together, they make a noise, and yes, if you respond...they will do it more...

Re: Grinding teeth

No, but he got his first tooth when he was 4 1/2 months old. Maybe your bub is just starting to get teeth.

Re: Grinding teeth

It's a great new game! It used to set my teeth on edge, but I noticed that when I winced, she thought it was funny and did it again, so I trained myself not to react. She did outgrow it, thank goodness!

Re: Grinding teeth

Yes it is annoying. It's one of those things that i dont deal with very well either, like nails down a chalk board. I guess that explains some of the strange faces he has been pulling lately too, testing his lips out on his teeth...

Thanks, Cass xx

Re: Grinding teeth

It really is like nails on the chalkboard isn't it.  Our son realized he could do this about a month ago at 15 months. Yeah, he can do it real loud and it just grates my nerves and makes me cringe....lovely just lovely. We haven't figured out a way to get him to stop either....
