Just a quickie from me - some info Ngala (parent resource centre in Perth) told me when our little one was spewing alot as a baby.

Although it looks like they are spewing the same amount that you are giving them it is actually alot less as what comes up is only part milk, the rest is saliva and fluid from their tummys, so they are still getting their feed.

As long as your little one is still willing to take formula and is not acitng like he is in pain AND is gaining weigth fine (that's the catch) just adding cereal to his bottles can help. I beleive the ratio is 1tsp per 4 oz of formula. This does wonders for them. Thicken is the firs t line of defense for a reflux baby that doesn't need meds. The is a formula called Enfamil AR (acid reflux) that has the added cereal into it alread so all you have to do is make the bottle. Much easier. This helps alot of babies as well.

You should also prop them up for aobut 30 after each feed. Don't put them down espcially flat, that will almost gaurntee a puke.

My son has VERY severe Refulx. so severe he requires a feeding tube to be fed. He was in too much pain and stopped eating all toggether. SO IF he is in pain get to the doc. asap.

My baby has been a spewy baby since the day he was born. I dont know why. He's 6 1/2 months old and he still spews. It has slowed down alot since i put him on solids, but it still happens every day. I think some babies are just spewy and some arent.

If your baby seems to be in pain while (or very soon after) throwing up, your bub might have reflux too. Go and talk to your doctor (or a good chemist) and they should be able to help you out with that.

As long as your baby is putting on weight, then dont worry about it too much (unless is changes colour). Just have lots of cloth nappies to catch it and clean your bub up.
