Re: weaning

The advice you have already been given is good advice.  I will add that Jade might be even more accepting if you use the wide neck bottles because they are close to breastfeeding.

Re: weaning

Hi, if you express your breast milk, save in ref, it might be too cold.

If you express, give it to her at room temp, in a different position from when you nurse, she might be a b it more accepting, also, press some out so she has iton her lips, once she gets the taste, tonge comes out just plug bottle in and keep at it. When she is h ungry, she will eat, all a process :o) but hard too change for Mom too...you might play around if she has a plug, passie? to put some milk on that first, then slide the bottle without her knowledge

Re: weaning

my son was 9 months old when i decided to take back my body. I got a toddler bottle (tommee tipee) with a square spout as this was as far away from a bottle as i could get (without going to a cup, as i didnt want to start bottles then), this bottle did not leak when tipped up either. my son was happy to have this but it took many many trials of different formulas before i found one he didnt spit straight back at me. When we found a formula i would cuddle him as i would normally to breastfeed and then offer him the bottle first and when he had decided that he had had enough of that i gave him boob. At first he would only have a very very small sip of formula then reject it but with each feed he would have more and then finish with the comfort of boob. I decided to do it this way as i am too much of a softy and could go could turkey with him. It took two months for him to totally wean but he did and quite happily. hope this helps.

Re: weaning

once you have the sleeping thing down pat, you could either continue with breast milk from a cup (would suggest renting an eletric pump from the hospital if you can as the manual pumps are useless.) or you could make the formula more watery at first as an inbetween drink while she is still breastfeeding so she can get used to the stronger flavour of formula slowly. ::)

Re: weaning

If you are willing and able to pump BM and offer that instead then that is a better option then the formula anyway.

Have you tried a sippy cup or a straw cup instead. After about 4-5mths they don't really have to be weaned onto a bottle as most kids will take a cup happily.

Perhaps you could give a breastfeeding counsellor a call for some tips.  www.breastfeeding.asn.au  under 'contact us'

Good luck
