Well as most of you know, my bub has 6 teeth already. He is nearly 7 months old and he is eating solid food. I was just wondering should i start brushing his teeth now or wait until he is older?
depending on were u live, in some childrens stores or even the pharmacy, they sell a special "brush" 4 infants. it's rubber, u put it on your finger, use the special toothpaste it came with and brush his teeth.
Hi I started to brush my childrens teeth as soon as they came through. I think if you don't , the food and drink is just sat there. My kids didn't like it at first but soon got used to it. Happy brushing!!! Loopy.
YES! but don't worry about toothpaste as the flouride would be unsafe for him at this point and he has no ability to spit (on cue at least!) i would wipe his teeth down with a soft gauze after eating whenever it occurs to you and i would not give him any sugar. having severely neglected my children's teeth as infants, i really wish i had tended to their dental hygience sooner.
The earlier you start, the quicker he will get used to it and the more he will understand why you do it. Make sure he sees you brushing yours too so that he doesn't feel as though you are pushing it on him for the fun of it. There are baby toothpastes out there and special little brushes too!
It is ok to start brushing teeth now but i wouldn't recommend tooth paste - even fluoride free. I just use a very soft bristled tooth brush for emily... but if you are concerned that bristles may be too harsh, just rub his teeth with a face washer.... it will do the same job!
Now! You can start at birth, just by rubbing gums for your kids to get the feel of something in their mouth...makes life much easier if they are used to the gum stimulation. If baby is eating solid foods, just add routine into bath time...rub a dub dub, clean the little bub's teeth in the tub :)
