Re: breast milk and solids

At 7 months both of my boys were having 3 meals a day & 5-6 breast feeds (one of them would be at night). I hope this helps.

Re: breast milk and solids

As much as she can drink. Feed on demand and if she is having a day where she doesn't ask then keep offering- it will help your supply. If you are having trouble expressing then try to breastfeed as much as possible and offer water in a sippy cup or bottle so she can still drink when you can;t be there and have run out of expressed milk.

Here is a link to an article on expressing from the ABA site. They also have a forum with a section on expressing here.

Hope this helps

cheers

Re: breast milk and solids

it really depends on the child.

My kids had about 150 ml to 250ml of formula and 3-6 meals a day3 main meals and up to 3 snacks weather they were rusks to fruit. depending on the day and the season also dictated on what they ate and how much.

My rule of thumb is if they arent asking for food or fussing as if they are hungry they are getting enough.

Re: breast milk and solids

Hi Nicky

When i give Austin milk from a bottle, he will drink from 150 - 200mls. Make up 200 and if she doesn't drink it dont worry. When she is hungry she will drink it. Also, i would think it would depend on if you are giving her a bottle before of after her solids. They say that solid food is just for experimenting for the first few months so her main source of food and drink should still be your milk.

The reason you arent the cow you used to be, is that a baby can suck much more from you than you will get expressing (that is my experience). I do know there are a few people on this site who have always expressed. Maybe they can give you some tips on how to get more.

Also there is a breastfeeding support group that you could join too. Hope this helps

Love Cass xx

Re: breast milk and solids

Hey, My cousins little girl is 6months and eats 3 meals a day and has 3bottles a day, i think she has 200ml in each bottle and if she drinks it,she drinks it.Eating the solids is the main thing now so i think the breast milk would be more of an inbetween meals thing.

I hope this helps, but im only going by how my cousin feeds her daughter.
