I am asking this question on behalf of a friend of mine, she isn't a minti member yet but I am sure soon will be.
She has a little girl who is 7 weeks old today and for some reason over the last week she has been awake between 3 and 5.30am with what she thinks is pain as it comes just after a feed.
She has tried numerous things but I suggested I would ask you guys if you had experienced the same thing and if so what did you do to fix it.
is the babay on formul or breast milk, i had to change my sons formula bout 5 times, i thought it was wind but it was an upset belly, same as breast feeding if she has changed her diet it could be affecting the baby prob not something agreeing with the baby.
colic relief is great for wind, also for an upset tummy try 5 to 10 mls of water after that feed as water will surroung anything in the tummy and help if it is an upset tummy.
i found a great remedy called coleif, a lot of babies are lactose intolerant which is present in almost all formulas. coleif works by breaking the lactose down. you add 2 drops 2 each bottle about 2 hours prior 2 feeding and if ur breast feeding 2 drops 2 a little expressed milk on a spoon.
i think u will find ur baby much better with this as they seem 2 build up a little wind after each feed that they can't seem 2 get rid of,so that feed in the middle of night can seem 2 take 4 ever as they are in pain
i have 7 children and only found out about this with my 5th and it was a god send.
Hope ur baby settles soon 4 u. Karen xx
It really does sound like wind pains. Get your friend to lay her girl on her back, on a flat, soft surface, and gently rock the knees up into the stomache. Hold it for a few seconds, and keep doing this for about 5 mins. We tried doing this at every nappy change with our young babies, and found that it helped to prevent the wind pains as well. Also, doing this straight after a bath really helps too. Tummy time across mums knee (just the one knee) will help as well. This puts pressure on the digestive system, particularly the bowels, and helps to shift the gas through quicker.
This sounds like wind pain to me. Maybe try burping her a little longer before putting her down to sleep.I know it's hard at that time in the morning but the extra time taken should pay off. Night feeds won't last forever and you could try skipping this one as soon as she is happy to do it.
Maybe try to cut out the early morning feed, or with the last feed of the night, try a different method in feeding the bub. Try changing the routine of being fed, so bubs doesn't wake up in the night, and maybe the pain will go away.
