3D baby scan

I have already had two kids, Ava who is 2.5yrs and Liam who is 1. No one even mentioned a 3D scan to me while pregnant with them. I didn't even know they existed with Ava. While pregnant with Ava, I never even got offered any pics of the 2 u/s I had!! Of course, I got the films but its not the same. I have heard of people getting CD's with images of their baby on them.

Whats the go with the 3D scans? How do you get them, who do you ask for one??? I would really like to get one done with this bub.

Re: 3D baby scan

I know here in the states not all OB;s offer this. There are palces that just do the scans for profit. I know that her eyou can go to a "school" for U/S techs and get one for free....maybe you could look into that. My sister had one with her 3rd and it looked awesome!!!!! Good luck.

Re: 3D baby scan

I live in Gympie, and they don't even offer pics or anything.  Had to pay $15 on the Gold Coast, and because we coudn't afford it, missed out.  Oh, and that was on top of providing a cd for them to copy it onto!

The 3D scans are often not offered every where, as it is a totaly seperate machine and costs way too much for some practices.  Wish I could have one done though.

Re: 3D baby scan

I'm in Brissie.  I paid for mine and it was about $120 and i got about half back on medicare, so i didn't think it was that bad.  It was just the standard scan, they scanned 2D and 3D.  I had it with my last two children 3yrs and 1yrs now.  I didn't have to ask for anything they just did it like that.  It was at the Mater Private (i went there because my Dr really wanted me to have a scan and i had missed out in the public system) for my first and with my second child at the Sunnybank Womens Diagnostic centre.  I think now your first scan is free and any others you must pay for.  The system seems to have changed somewhat over the years, they all used to be free.

Re: 3D baby scan

Hey jess. the 3D scans are terribly expensive but fantastic in that you really do see everything. I loked into them when I was pregnant with Caitlin, so I cant remember exact prices but they were very expensive as we didnt have much cash. My 20 scan I just went to a "normal" stenographer and they gave me the CD for $10. But they dont have the capacity to print out a photo there. It was at Browns Plains, if you want to go I will give you the details. I went there for the dating scan as well.

There are specialised places that offer 3D ultrasounds, which you can find in the Yellow Pages (or whatever your country's telephone business directory is called, if it isn't the Yellow Pages) and on the internet.
