It's been quite a while since i have had intercourse and a couple of months ago i had a baby. I am not using any form of contraception at the moment and i am bottle feeding - not breastfeeding.
I was just wondering if anyone has fallen pregnant with using the withdrawal method.... either for the first time or soon after a pregnancy?
The withrawal method is not really a form of contraception. It isn't effective at all. Studies have found that a man's pre-ejaculate contains a small number of sperm, so certainly, you can get pregnant. And since you're not breastfeeding, it's a very high likelihood you will get pregnant. I know siblings that are just 12 months or less apart.... that means the mother got pregnant within 3 months after giving birth.
It doesn't matter when you use it, the withdrawal method, on it's own is not a very efficient form of contraception. Pre-ejaculate can contain sperm, so any unprotected sexual activity can result in pregnancy.
In Australia, (usually), your Doctor or midwife should have discussed appropriate methods of birth control prior to your departure from hospital. If this didn't occur, I am sure you would find a lot of information about it on the net, or be able to get some pamphlets from your GP or family planning clinic.
I do know that my partner and his ex wife got caught the first time they had sex after having their baby girl! Another girl arrived a few months later.I personally would never rely on the withdrawal method anyway.
if you are bottle feading you can get preg as soon as you first ovulate which can be 2 weeks following birth. withdrawl will decrease your chance but has a very high pregancy rate as a result, deffinately not reliable at all. my husabnd and i discovered some time ago that condoms only work if you put them on straight away!! (oops! 3 of ours were planned the other 3 wern't lol )you cannot put them on half way through, as men have precum which has sperm in it. we couldn't work out how i kept getting pregnant lol then the doctor told us about the precome, so that means that pulling out is not a very good contraception either.
I get pregnant on the Pill so this method for me would be more trouble. No method of contraception is 100% 'safe' and is recommended that you use at least 2 methods, preferably more, to beat the bodily functions.
I have fallen pregnant this way. The man's pre-cum fluid is present before ejaculation, therefore you are not really prtected at all. I also became pregnant using the rthym method. I suggest you talk to your doctor about your options which include the iud( 5 years protection), injection every 3 months or implant. If you do not want to get pregnant them condoms are the easiest in the mean while.
Hi, I got pregnant using the withdrawal method!! During having sex the guy actually cums (pre-cum) and he cant feel that he is doing it cos its not all that much...If your not planning on another baby then use a condom because the withdrawal method is not a contraception if you look over at my picture lol.
Hi there, very risky business as i am sure pre -cum (sorry sounds yuk,I hope i can say that) can also get you pregnant. If you are having a regular period may I suggest the rythem method ,worked for me.I have actually written an advice piece here on minti about rythem method. But best protection would be the pill or a comdom.Sorry I am not sure how to do links so if u click on my name and have a look at my advice you will find it in there.
