I have just had a similar problem with my 14 month old son. The best thing to do is to wash her bottom etc every time you change her nappy and apply some nappy cream (I use papaw ointment as it is natural & always does the trick). Avoid powders as they can cake on a wet bottom and make matters worse, if you do like to use powder always make sure you brush any excess off so this doesn't happen. If it doesn't improve it may be a yeast infection & you will then need to get a special cream from your pharmacy. Hope this helps.
I have the same problem with my daughter who's 25 months old..
If the rash doesn't go away it could be a type of yeast infection she got and only a doctor could say so.. I would suggest that you bring her into a doctor and get it checked out.
Because like women, babies and men can get yeast infections too!! And we all know how they hurt us, just imagine on a baby!
Try using Penaten Cream.. You can get it here in Canada, especially Wal-Mart or even Shoppers Drug Mart.. It works good, I use it.. Just in tough situations like this, a doctors advice would be better..
Good luck and I hope the rash goes away soon (as I had the same problem less than 2 weeks ago!)
Curash™® Powder or Cream, Bepanthen Cream. All of these I found fantastic on sore bum rashes. I had kids who had problems with pectin acid, and it would give them the runs and burn. So any of these I used. With the cream, I always made sure that it was applied thick, 1- so it didn't hurt trying to rub it and 2 at least some of it would absorb but still leave enough not to rub the nappy. Also nappy free time in the sun is the best.
I suggest using nappy rash cream at every nappy change, whether it is dirty or wet. Also, if the brand you are using is not working so well, change it. The chemicals that are used in these products are absorbed through the skin so that they can work. Unfortunately, this means bottoms 'learn' the chemical codes and the body starts to reject them. Alternating between several brands will prevent this from happening and the problem should clear up in about a week. Apply it thickly at first to provide a good protective barrier to sooth the damage already done and to prevent any more happening. The reason why it is hurting so much is because runny poos tend to be more acidic, spread more and stick more.
With a rash like that you need a strong barrier cream. The one I would recommend is Zinc and Castor. Supermarkets and chemists sell it. When the bottom is very sore I find it a good idea to warm the lotion in the palm of the hand and pat it on with three fingers (so as not to rub or pull on the skin). If it doesn't clear within a week I would see a doctor. Sometimes thrush or bacteria get into the skin and prescription ointments are required.
Sounds like nappy rash. Nappy rash creams are available in the baby stuff isle of supermarkets or at any pharmacy which will help ease the rash and protect the skin from further inflammation. Nappy rash is more common to get when a little one has the runs. Change nappy as soon as it's wet or dirty and give her a bit of bare bum time each day, and re-apply the cream with each nappy change.
There's an excellent advice I read about nappy rash on here somewhere...? If I find it again I'll give you the link.
corn starch. that has always worked better for me than any of the Johnson powders or anything. just sprinkle a bit of corn starch on their bottom and it will help dry up that rash within just a few days. also, try a cloth diper for a few hours of the day, that will help air it out. Hope this helps!
