Things to do as a couple

Hi all, a question for us to do...

In order to get some 'couple time'  we've farmed the kids out for holiday sleepover, and we are going to spend a night for us. We've decided we want to go out and actually have a 'date', not just stay home for yet another quite night in.

Problem is - what are we going to do without spending much money? Don't have the money for dinner and the movies are resonably expensive too, and I just can't think of anything else to do!

Any ideas for a nice night out on a budget of about $20? We need to get out of the house! Please help me before I go insane!

Do the coupon thing.  You can get a pizza for $6 pick up with a coupon.  If you check your shop-a-dockets you can usually get a voucher for 2 for one at your local movie theatre.  I LOVE shop a dockets and vouchers.  I keep some in my purse at all times.

Go out buy some fish and chips or take out of your choice, find a beach and sit and watch the waves roll in..

Again take out of your choice, find a river...

Or go to some nice place over looking the lights of a city, or town..

As I have no idea where you are,  I can't tell you where to go..

But take a drive, find a nice quite place and well go parking.. .:)

Find a pinic bench in a park and sit and eat your dinner together, take a candle... :)

My partner and often go camping for a night... we hop in the car and go for a drive down the Great Ocean Road and find a cheap camp site and sleep in a tent under the stars...

It's nice as its cheap (generally about $15 for a powered camp site), and we can take our own food so don't spend money on food. We always have a nice time as theres always plenty of places to go for a walk, whether its down the beach, or in the bush, and we feel like we've had a little holiday as we're doing something completely different to what we normally would.

Re: Things to do as a couple

I had this problem the other week. I was pretty broke and didn't know what to do ... what ended up looking like a no hope weekend turned into this...

Friday we went for a drive. Nowhere in particular just seeing where we ended up. Well he took me to a lovely park for a fish basket lunch (6.50), then to the botanical gardens for a stroll.

We headed back home for a few hours then we jumped back in the car that night and he took me to the movies. (2 for $20 at the time)

The other thing we do is go take a nice bath or spa when we are out at his folks place. Nothing like turning out the lights, lighting a couple of candles and relaxing in hubbies arms in the bubbles!

Re: Things to do as a couple

my husband and i went through the same things only 2 week ends ago. my mum and dad came down to baby sit our 4 month old daughter and my husbands 10 year old son so we could have an "adults night'. First, we went to a little coffee shop within walking distance and had a a lattee or two, brought a bottle of red wine and went down to the beach to look at the stars... unfortunitly it was raining.. POURING at the time, so we spent most the time trying to set up two large umbrellas, had a sip of the wine and left. In the end we decided to go for a little drive and like teen agers once again we parked at a look out and had a very nice night. All up for two coffees, red wine and a small amout on fuel, we spent around $30. I hope this may help.

Thinking back to the teenage years... A country drive, a picnic, and a romantic parking on a lookout somewhere maybe? Stay out of the back seat though or you'll end up with another one to ship off for an overnight holiday leter on. LOL

Think about what did you do when you were young and had no money... surely all young people did something for little or no money with their dates when they were younger!

Re: Things to do as a couple

My suggestion is a nice picnic somewhere quiet. Or just have a nice romantic candlelit dinner at home, followed by either dancing to mood music in the lounge, going for a walk holding hands, coming back and having a nice massage.

There are actually lots of things to do with out spending excessive amounts of money. Just think outside the square. Think about what you would do if you went out on a date, then modify it to home.

Not sure where you are from, but in Sydney we have Tight Arse Tuesdays at the movies where tickets are half price.

Dinner at the local bowling club is usually quite cheap, find out when they do $10 steak nights etc.

Or maybe have a moonlit picnic by the water somewhere? Even by a small creek is nice.

Have fun :)

Without knowing where you are, it would be hard to make suggestions beyond a nice moonlit walk or window shopping (but not for windows of course).

You could go for a nice walk and then come home and have game night, just the 2 of you.  Monopoly money can be used for playing poker, or you could just go the more adult version too.

Re: Things to do as a couple

my hubby and i go for long drives to nowhere. we just say ok north and we head north. (taking a road map of course) we often find beautiful bakeries that $20 will get u a bit. normally we go up to mundaring drive alont hte weir road and go bush walking and go to brumbies in kalamunda for a ppie and a drink.

for our anniversary ( which is in september so it is cold) we drive from scabs beach to freo and go to the fish and chips shop (ciserello's) and get a serve of fish and chips which is really for 2 ppl as u get heaps of chips and 2 peices of fish. this normally is about $30 with fuel. we go for the whole day.

good luck.
