Re: clicky hip

My daughter had the same thing so we took her to the doctor after her 6 month check-up...We were assured by the doctor that it would go away and that it is normal for babies to have this.  Still we weren't satisfied so we took her took her to an orthopedic surgeon, he to assured us that as she got older it would go away.  She wasn't having any difficulty with her leg or hip so we said ok, we will just keep a check on it.  Sure enough, it went away by the time she started walking.

I hope that it will be the same for your six month old as it was for our little girl...

Re: clicky hip

Interesting... clicky hip is usually more of a concern with girls, probably because of hip problems with childbirth later on as well as the puberty development of the hips expanding. This is the first time I've ever heard of a boy getting checked for it let alone having it.

I've got it but its only mild in me, but both hips. Didn't know until I had my eldest, then my hips started to click and pop and could sometimes be as loud as a shotgun! They can kind of seize up and be a bit uncomfortable as well at times, until they pop. Must go out of place a bit or something. ??? I don't know the long term effects besides a possible hip replacement in older age - but then that's a risk woith anyone really, but I imagine if bad enough as a child grows it might cause hip displacement or something like that.

As far as I know its normally genetic, but not necessarily so. After all, even with things that are strictly genetic, the gene has to start somewhere, someone had to be the first to have it.

Re: clicky hip

My eldest daughter had x-rays because she didn't have one of the creases in her legs and my youngest had a-symetrical hips but both of them are fine.  Here is a Clicky Hip or Clicky Hip that might help.

It  could just be normal growth, but it is still better they check it out as there are conditions like hip displaysia that can cause long term problems.
