Hey, I am about 6 wks pregnant and since Tuesday have been unable to eat anything and keep on dry reaching through out the whole day. (some vomit if I have not long had something to drink.) I know it can't be good not to eat so I was wondering what other ppl did to help ease/cure morning sickness and also what kind of foods were easier to handle? Thanks.
Ps. Never was this bad with the first thats why I need some help please.
HI there. I was exactly the same. Sick ALL thru the day for most of pregnancy. I had to be admitted to hospital twice as I lost 7 kilo's in 1 week from loosing too much fluid plus I couldn't keep anything down. I now wish I tried different ways to fix nausea but I just didn't at the time. but my friend who is pregnant with her third was really feeling sick all day & went and had 2 sessions of acupunture(releases toxins out of body) and now she feels GREAT! My dad get's nausea and has pepermint tea or anything with ginger. You can also buy tablets for nausea. I can't think of the name at the moment. Will get back to you on that one. Good Luck! & Hang in there! I know how awful you can feel...p.s. dry buscuits NEVER worked for me just made me feel ill they use to stick to roof of mouth YUK!
Hey back to you. I weighed my self yesterday and lost nearly 4kilo. and that was the middle of the day. Its not so bad as I can keep down water/juice and that has been since monday. Can't stand ginger but the doc gave me something whch seems to have helped. Peppermint gives me a headache. Hopefully things will pick up soon. cheers for the advice it is muchly appreciated.
Hi, you have gotten some excellent advice here and some grat links to keep you reading for awhile! i just wanted to add that for me it was the timing of my eating. I actually found if I didnt eat untill I got to work, although I felt lousy, when I did have brekkie there it stayed down, otherwise I would see it again at home, usually have a spew after the train.
Definatley have to eat small quantities regularly but for me I could only keep down food between 9am-about 3pm. After that it was a waste of time. And I found steamed fresh vegies during that time stayed down nicely too!
Well I don't know if it's the tabs the doc gave me but I managed about half a 6 in subway roll Not the bread though. and a dim sim. (not the best I know but it stayed down which is the important thing. This morning I don't feel so bad but I have found the nausea is less worse when I am busy and I am going to be flat out getting ready for tonight so I will see how I go.
Thankyou very much everyone. all advice has been taken on board and is muchly appreciated. I have been to the doc who gave me a script for the maxolin. will see how I go with that and the dry crackers and apparently really bland foods. Once again thanks to all your great advice.
i'm 21 weeks pregnant and haven't stopped yet either. my doctor put me on a tablet called maxolin ( australia) which didn't seem to do much but my doctor also suggested that i eat small amounts frequantly mainly dry foods like crackers and toast, and not to let more then 3 hours pass with out having something. i also found small amounts of ginger beer ( the drink) helped if i sipped it through out the day.
I had morning, noon and night sickness for 30 weeks of my pregnancy. I also had heartburn. Within minutes of eating I would vomit and always first thing in the morning and during the night. I found that cup soups and Hungry Jacks Whoopers with cheese (the plain ones made me sick - figure that out!) were the only things I could keep down and to stop the nausea feelings I found fruit tingles worked. I took prenatal vitamins to help because of the vomiting and as long as I took them with cup a soup I kept them down.
I cant guarantee they will work for you but I tried everything people suggested until I found something that helped so maybe you could try a few peoples suggestions until you find something that works for you?
Hi there, Ive been feeling sick all the way through my pregnancy, im now 28weeks.I hav not yet vomited but i do get bad acid reflux..I know its hard but try to eat you really need too.Even some fruit should stay down. Things that helped me while feeling sick are ginger biscuits, rice crackers (sakata's), ritz (normal crackers).. I hope you feel bettre soon and the morning sickness passes soon.
You can get morning Sickness tablets from Blackmores and they did seem to help me slightly. Ginger is supposed to help, but only real/fresh ginger, not ginger beer. Vitamin B6 is suppos to help and these tablets have bothe ginger and B6 in them. Maxolon is good, you need a prescription form your doctor.
Unfortunately not everything works for everybody........you have to try and find what works best for you. Morning sickness is the pits and I know for me I just had to ride it out and once I hit the 12 week mark it stoppped. I lost 10kgs with my first pregnancy beacuse I couldn't eat a thing.
i had morning sickness from conception to birth. with charlie i lost 20kg.
all i could eat was crakers the salada ones and i ate the ginger u get from the japanese shops ( u can buy in coles and wollies in the japanese part) i also drank heaps of water too. for lunch it was vegimite sandwhiches and accasionally i would have some cheese and crakers with ginger chuckney. i basicly ate ginger in everything and i even later about 5 months with charlie starting drinking ginger beer which helped. BUT this only works if u can handle ginger. some ppl hate it.
u can go to the doc and get maxalon and that halps. its an anti nausious tab. Good luck chicki and hope this passes really soon.
LOTS of water and dry crackers. You can't function properly without water and if vomiting you will need to replace fluids. Dry crackers give u some energy and are easier to stomach. I found this was was my main diet even in the early days at home after having my baby as I felt sickly when my milk came in and would often feel like I was going to be sick when breastfeeding, especially in the middle of the night. Doing this really helped though and the sickness soon passed and I am still breastfeeding him at 5months
Thankyou. will give it a go. Have found 1/2 water 1/2 apple juice to be about the only thing I can drink. But I am gradually weaning on to straight water. Will definbetly try the crackers. Thanks again
i am 22 weeks preg and still have morning sickness i havnt found a thing that works yet . my sister did go to the chemist and get something though to stop it
Thanks bel. I think you are talking about ginger tablets, Tried them today and yesterday but it just made it worse. Thankyou anyway. I think I will go to the chemist and just speak to a pharmacist and see what other options are available. Thanks
