I grabbed a dumym from the drawer before we left the house and left the lid off the container ajar accidentally, when I returned I discoverd the sterilised dummies were covered in ants! I onyl sterilise in a container of boiled water- is this not enough?
Ok, ants are probably after the water from the dummies. They have needs to, and will find it anywhere they can. Also, by sterilising, there are parts of the dummy that will be sweet smelling not sure why though, and the ants will be attracted to that.
maybe the ants were attracted to something you may have put on there like maybe gripe water or something like that . i would do like others said boil it in a pot
not saying this is why they are attracted but the only way to get rid of all the germs on a dummy is to boil it in a suacpan of water for a few minutes. A nurse told me this after my son had oral thrush as this is the only way to geet rid of the 'thrush bug' (sorry cant think of the technical term). I was using milton tablets before that and she told me that they aren't even enough.
The ants may have been attracted by water left on the dummies after being sterilised. Look around the area where the dummy was - is there a place where ants are getting in? You might need some ant deterrent.
boiled water should be enough so im not sure why the ants were attracted to them? could there have been something in the drawer that wasnt sterilised? i agree with the other response best to keep them in the fridge after sterilising yucko!
i use to keep all teats ,bottles and dummys in the fridge, plus it's good for when they are teething as it's nice and cold and always clean hope it helps
What is gripe water? I have boiled the kettle and poured that into a clean container to let them sit and then taken them out, squeezed the water out with a pair of sterilised tongs and put the caps back on. Where am I going wrong
