16 year old girl birthday party?

HI all, My daughter is turning 16 in a few weeks and has asked to have a costume party at our house. How many do you suggest to invite? How would you go about this. I am not a party person at all.

Thanks for any advice,

Eryn

I would suggest asking your daughter how many she would like to have. I know when my son turned 16 last year, he only wanted 5 invited. It was great. They organised their own party. Mind you they had music and were downstairs, had themselves a BBQ, we were not supposed to come downstairs at all (I did just to annoy him). They then did whatever, which was mostly sit around and talk for most of the night just listening to music and hanging out. But that is what they wanted to do. So I would see if your daughter has any ideas of her own.

Re: 16 year old girl birthday party?

My daughter had about 20 girls over for her 14th and it does get very noisy and their is always one or two in the group that is louder than others and you want to tell them to be quiet but it gets a bit embarrassing.  It did get quite messy too.  Make sure you stipulate start time and end time. Get organized so they dont get bored and you know where you are at Food, Games etc. It was pouring with rain on her birthday so having them all inside was a nightmare!!  and I was not organized properly. Take it out the back if you can. I am going to get the velcro wall or the one they had on Big Brother when they put the elastic band around your waist and you have to race to the end. It does cost a little bit though and I am already saving for it. You can check it out  www.jumpingjjays.com.au/adult.shtml .

I think its a great idea and it would be so much fun and it kills a couple of hours. Hope I have helped a little.  I have an idea for one game.  1. Pantyhose x 3 - for three at a time contestants

                                                     2. Oranges x 6 - place one in the pantyhose leg. one only till it reaches the bottom.

                                                     3. Tie other pantyhose around waste like a belt and the other one hangs down of course with the orange in it.

                                                     4. Place remaining oranges in a line and they have to hit the orange with the orange in the pantyhose till the finish line.

This one is hilarious and sure to be a hit.  Give out prizes to the winner or just have a lucky dip.

Re: 16 year old girl birthday party?

How many you invite is your decision. But I do have one suggestion. I have a young friend who stayed with me for a while & I put on a 16th for her. She & her friends wanted to drink. If your daughter & her friends are the same, do what I did - I made a punch with non-alcoholic wine. I told them the punch had wine in it, just didn't say it wasn't alcoholic (and, yes, one girl was 'drunk' on it, lol).

The main thing to be wary of is gate crashers. Put on the invitations that it is invitation only, & that only the person on the invitation is allowed. Otherwise you get ones wanting to bring girl/boy friends or just other friends etc. I even had a sign on my front door - invitation only!

There are website with great ideas for party foods & games. I can't recall them as was long ago when I threw the party - but if you search "party games" or "party food" & then look for teenage you will find lots of great ideas!

Re: 16 year old girl birthday party?

That is so funny but works cause we did that for our kids at our friends wedding. We bought all the teenagers the maison from Woolworths or Coles. Looks exactly like they are drinking wine. They feel grown up and they actually get drunk on it. I didn't tell them it was alcoholic. I am sure they can read but they loved it cause they felt part of the party. They don't need alcohol to have a good time! Good point about invitation only

It's your house and only you know how many will fit in it comfortably. If your daughter is popular, I would see about maybe moving it out of doors and then you can increase the guests a little.
