IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

Hi everyone,

I had the Implanon inserted on the 11th of March and I was hoping I would not get my period but I did as I have heard some woman dont get them at all. Its not really a normal period but it has lasted for about 9days now and becoming very annoying.  Has anyone had this inserted and did they have the same problem as I am having??

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

It took my body 6mths to adjust so my periods were all over the place, but then it settled down, I had it taken out to have a baby. The oral pill doesn't work for me as my body doesn't absorb it. I don't like IUD's either. They have a new one that releases a hormone but it's to much like an abortion for me (having miscarried 3 times I couldn't handle the thought that a fertilized egg was "killed") But apparently it's pretty good and doesn't have any bad side affects. I don't know what it's called but talk to your doctor it's sort of like the implanon except they insert insde some how. It release a hormone. I'd ask about all your options before making a desicion.

Cheers Raven

Hey there, i also get gunky peridos that lasts about a month at a time, and i'm only without it for a few days, then its back, i used to have this problem when i was on the depo prova injection, and for that reason and also as i was putting on weight, im not sure if this is making me put on weight or not yet, but im not happy with it so far, thinking of getting it removed.

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

Well I couldnt take it anymore so had it removed about over 3 wks ago. Worst thing it was. Not for everyone. It was a horrible experience getting out as well. I thought well I've had 3 children couldnt be that bad but i really do hate needles. Anyhoo doctor tries to find exactly where it is and makes an ink mark then injection goes in to numb just a little sting. Phew........she cant get it out......chit!!!!  she is fiddling away and I'm really starting to sweat...I just want this thing out!!!   Then wooshka!! she pulls it out and i nearly hit the roof!!  Thank goodness its out I say! She then tells me she had to dig a bit as bits of tissue grows over it. ewwwwwww!!  So I get 4 stitches.. It was very painfull first night after anaesthetic wears off. Couldnt even lie on my arm.  Was still very sore a few days later so I inspect stitches and find like a strand hanging out nothing like the stitch so I pull on it and it was the most excruciating pain i have ever felt in my life. I hardly even pulled on it. It felt like someone was cutting my arm open with a knife (not that I have ever experienced that lol) Went back to doctors day b4 stitches were to be removed and she said she has never seen anything like it b4. I tell her it looks like tissue thats been sewn in with stiches they say they think its a bit of gauze. Pfft I beg to differ. The guy in the clinic says ok 123 and i'm going to pull. Chitttttt!!! nearly hit the roof again. Go all dizzy and palms are sweaty....... I think I'm going to pass out!! The pain was unbearable. Anyway he looks and says I dont think i got it all out and I say dont even think about touching me again. Doc comes back in looks and says no I think you got it out. Tells me to keep an  eye on it and if gets worse to come back and they will do an ultrasound or xray (cant remember which one) to see if there is any more foreign body in there... Its been over 3 wks now and its healing up pretty good with a 2cm scar. Still a tiny bit sore and it feels hard in that area.

I hope I havent scared you. I think I was just unlucky to have this little problem.  My mum said I shouldnt of got it and that she would never put anything like that inside her body.  So glad its out and will never ever get anything like that again. I am now taking the pill by mouth and getting a normal period Yayyyyyy that only last for a few days not 2-3wks of gunky stuff. (Its just not right all that gunk)  I only got it out of pure laziness. I am very strict now about taking my pill by mouth lol and leaving myself notes. lol.

Get it out immediately! Dont put up with all that gunk!  oh and btw I turned really nasty with the implanon around that time of the month. Scary!!! Even Scared myself.  Good Luck and hope you dont have as much pain as i went through. xxx

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

i had the implanon put in after my second child and found that my periods became excessivley irregular sometimes only a few days apart then none for a few months and the cramping got worse and heavier bleeding. i also would have a period for a few days one time then it would last for weeks another time, also i was steadly putiing on weight . i'ld had it in for about a year and it didn't get better so i talked to my dr and he recommended i have it removed.

hope it settles for you soon and doesn't become the horror i had.

I am on my second implanon. I had alot of bleeding problems with the first one and was thinkingabout  not getting another but when i went to a new doc (because we moved house)  I found out it was put in wrong and that was the cause of all the bleeding.

I have my second one now for about 6 months and i have had no bleeding what so ever.

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

Hi there! I had one in for 2 years.  I found that for a few months it was all over the place - then it settled down and I didn't get any at all.  It was ok, but when I had it removed I found that I lost weight easier and our s e x life improved dramatically (had obviously interfered in the hormones some how).  Anyway, maybe just try it for a few months but if you're not happy there are other options.  My GP won't touch implanon at all - doesn't like it, so I had to go to the obstetrician and after baby number 2 i went with mirena as I didn't want to go back to implanon.

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

In most women the period either stops altogether, or it at least becomes very light. But not always. I had the implanon and it made my period worse. I was getting it about every 2 weeks and heavy. I kept it in for about a year to see if it would settle but it didn't.

For yourself, give it another 1 - 2 months as it can take time to settle. If it hasn't changed by then, have the rod removed.

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

I had Implanon for about a year and in the beginning periods were as normal after about 5 - 6 months I had a very light flow lasting 1-2 days and then didnt get them at all. So give it about 6 months and if you are still unhappy go back and see your doctor, getting the implanon taken out was much less painful then having it in. It is a good form of contraception as you dont have to worry about missing pills etc.

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

I had the implanon implant in for 2 years, i would have a light period that lasted around 2 weeks, but had minimal period pain.  After i had it removed it took 2 years to fall pregnant.  I had another one inserted a few weeks ago.  Some people do not have periods at all while using implanon, some have heavier periods and some have constant spotting.  It's different for everyone, the benefit for me is not having to worry about contraception.... if it cause too many complications for you, you can have it removed

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

i got mine put in december. got my period a week earlier and it lasted twice as long, then got it again 2 weeks later :( and i got really bad mood swings, was really teary. then i was spotting for a few weeks, but since then i've had no bleeding at all. and the mood swings have settled down, just get a "hormone surge" every once in awhile. so i'm not having any problems now with it.

if you're wanting a contraception so that you won't get periods at all, this isn't the thing for you as it's not guaranteed, in fact it's not made so that you lose your period, you're still supposed to get them, but if you happen to lose thm on it it's a bonus.

i'm on the implanon for the pure fact that i used the pill and still ended up pregnant, so i needed a different type of contraception. i was quite close to getting it taken out in the beginning but it's sorted itself out now.

I know what you mean about the mood swings.  I have noticed I have been really psycho a bit. LOL!!! more than...you know... "The normal Psycho" Ha Ha!!

I am the same. Dont want anymore but need a contraceptive to help with the heavy periods and the pain.

Thanks for your advice xx

Oh Sh@#$%t  really!!  I am not very good with needles.    Funny you say about the weight gain cause I am starting to notice the love handles are getting larger and I am a skinny girl. I noticed the other day when I put my jeans on and I couldnt find a top to hide the unsightly things. lol.  Did you have to go to a Special Doctor to get it removed??    Thanks for your advice. xx

hey!

two of my friends got the implanon and had to get them taken out because their periods wouldnt stop, if yours continues on like this, go and get it taken out and try something else.

I personally do not like the implanon after some horror stories i have heard, i hope it all works out for you.

channy.

Re: IMPLANON - Has anyone got this?? This one for Girls only! LOL

Oh no!!  It really hurt when I got it put in and did for about a week after that. I got it put in because I have been having really bad periods for about 8mths and had to call an ambulance the month before insertion as they were that painful I was doubled over in so much pain....it felt like I was going into labour then I had a panic attack.  God I hope they stop!  I am just forgetfull when it comes to taking pills.  Thanks for your comment I really appreciate it. xx

Maybe while there you could ask about a Mirena. I have heard these are good. I actually have one inserted at the moment, but it wasn't for contraception. Hubby is fixed, but mine were for massive periods. Just ask about your other options when you go to the doc.
