I thought about blogging this, but then I decided I wanted as many opinions as I could on the subject, so please forgive me for putting it here.
I had a baby 6 months ago, and although I eat regularly and relatively healthily during the day I find once it hits around 9-10pm I get really strong cravings for something sweet and unhealthy........ and it doesn't stop with just one piece of chocolate or something - it makes me want to pig out on the stuff!! The problem is I don't want to do this as I am already quite overweight and I really don't want to gain more! I don't mind a bit of sweet stuff during the day if I crave it - just really worried about having it at night 'cause I can't burn in off!
Does anyone know what I can do about these stupid cravings??!!! HELP PLEASE!!!!
you may want to try a piece of dark or bittersweet chocolate. It has a low amount of sugar but a high amount of satisfaction. Only a small amount and it will totally satisfy you! I know this from personal experience.
You don't say if you are breast feeding or not. I've found when I'm breast feeding, I have to eat something everytime I fed my baby. Your energy requirements are higher and your body will let you know when it needs something!
I often get hungry at this time of night any way and try to have popcorn if I can. If that fails, I have a stash of lollipops. Get the sugar hit without the 'food' if that makes sense. It seems to do the trick for me. You could also try getting things like the sweet healthy bars. They are sweet, but full of lots of good things. More expensive, but if you keep them just for the night time snack, then should be ok. Most of them are very yummy too! Hhhmmm, could go a nutty one right now.
Hi there, sorry but you might not like my solution .Dont buy it ,if you havent got it you can't eat it.Well unless you are going to get int he car and drive to buy it at that time of night.Instead of buying the sweets buy fruit and have a piece of fruit instead.Good luck.
I disagree with this one. I was raised on a farm 15 minutes away from the nearest shop so what do you do? You learn how to make your own, Iwhen the sugar craving used to grab me hard I used to make chocolate blanc mange or caramels or fudge all very easy to do and reasonably quick, or I make cake mix and ate the batter.............a true sugar junky is resourceful. Choc-blanc mange for example is cocoa sugar and milk and corn flour, all pretty innocent on their own, I've even made coffee flavoured or vanilla flavoured if I haven't had cocoa. It's not as easy as "Don't buy it"!
I do agree in a way as when I was pregnant once just felt like something really sweet,I had powderd milk so I made it really thick and ate that lol.As i also lived out of town and had no car .Sounds gross but is rather yummy.
I have the sdame problem, here is what i do, i make a milo, then straight after my milo i brush my teeth and floss and rinse with mouthwash, it works a treat as there is nothing that tastes more gross then eating straight after cleaning your teweth. Good luck! Are you apart of my Beautiful bods group?? maybe youd like to be, just give me a mintimail
Try buying individually wrapped chocolates etc so you don't have a whole block of chocolate open, I always found that if it was open then I would eat it no matter what time of day.
The other alternative is not to buy the food in the first place. I am a chocoholic and I have no will power when it comes to the sweet stuff, I just don't buy it anymore. I think someone earlier said 99 % fat free chocolate drinks are also a good idea.
You could also do more exercise the next day to compensate for eating the sweet stuff the night before.
I have currently lost 14.2kg and still have another 16.8kg to lose, so I know how hard it is.
I have the EXACT same problem and have recently (last month) begun to drink these 99% fat free hot chocolate drinks. They DO work for a while. My problem is also that I'm a night ow (or an insomniac.... what ever) so around midnight I'm wanting more and then if I have more when I do want to go to sleep around 1:30-2pm I'm up peeing all night, so I have 99% fat free marshmellows that our daughter loves and 1 is enough to satisfy me at that time usually (it's harder during PMS week LOL). Thats currently working for me, also a couple of times per week I drink one of those substitute meal shakes and I have found 2-3 of these a week is speeding up my metabolism from practically non existant to losing a kilo over night (after a drink) with no extra excercise etc. I just got the cheapest one from the supermarket and as I dont have it everyday for every meal it last for ages and is working for me. Hope this helps.
maybe have something small that is sweet and eat something more healthy till the hunger cravings go. Im 29 weeks preg and i have the same prob. I eat healthy during the day, but as soon as it hits around 11pm i eat junk. Try going to sleep earlier to avoid the cravings, also try and find a healthy food that you find tasty and pig out on that. I ve been eating mandarines, there very healthy and still sweet.
