whenever i put my son into his high chair for feeds he starts crying and getting upset. he's ok being strapped into a pram and the car seat, it just seems to be the chair. he hasn't had any bad experiences with it and he's fine if he's eating, but it's he's not eating then he wants out and lets you know. anyone have any tips?
Have you put your baby in a high chair he likes? My nephew is really fussy about his high chair. He gets a bit upset now that he's teething when his parents place him in the high chair they have at home. But we went to a restaurant on Sunday and he loved the high chair the restaurant had and didn't make a fuss even though he normally would have.
we never had an issue with the high chair when we first put him in there, so i'm not sure what the problem is. we've also tried him in 3 other high chairs and we get the same reaction :(
Is your high chair height adjustable??? . . If so try putting it on the lowest setting, some little ones feel very insecure being so high up, its similar to being scared of heights . . .
If you can't adjust the height of the chair then try feeding you son while he is strapped into his pram or even looking into a seat that can go into a normal kitchen chair . . My youngest Sumara has major issues using her high chair but is fine sitting on a special toddler seat for kitchen chairs . . WE used our pram inside until we finally figured out she didn't like being so high . .
It's like we are living parallel lives! lol. My 14 month hold has just started to get really cranky when we put him in his high chair. My solution? Have the food on the tray BEFORE I put him in. It is an instant response if he is hungry or not. If he is hungry, he stops crying immediately, lets me strap him in and starts to eat. We also realized that sometimes he wanted his drink while eating too. Who knew? As for when he isn't eating, it sounds like you aren't going to be able to convince him to sit in there. Mine cries to get out as well. No amount of convincing works.
Ours have been all the same. If they aren't eating, they get bored. Babies have very busy little minds. Try giving him a spoon to play with. This will also help him to learn to feed himself when he is older and also helps with teething.
