You can hire a steamer thingy from hardware stores (we got our from bunnings) made short work of it, it is called a wallpaper remover and takes away most of the sticky residue, you might also like to get a plastic scrapper as that will make it easier.  You might find it better to hire the steamer/wallpaper remover on a weekend when hubby can help cause you might find it is too big a job for a day on your own.

Good luck.  As for painting etc, etc, anything is possible, just get good advice.  For this I would steer clear of bunnings and go to paint spot or paint right, you will find them more helpful than the 17 year olds etc you find in Bunnings, as they only have to know about paint etc and preparation, not about 100 different things.

Firstly, your landlord has to approve any changes you want to make to the house, or you could lose your bond.  As for the doing of it, good luck! lol.  I can't even paint!

You can wallpaper over wallpaper just watch for bubbles as the old wallpaper can expand under neath. if this happens just use a soft cloth and gentaly smoth out the bubble from the middle out till you loose it. the same can happen with painting over wallpaper,  To remove old papper you need to wet it with warm water with a dash of washing up liqud in, we use a spray bottle. it neede to realy soak in so some papper needs to be scratched so the the water can get to the bottem serface.  You need somthing flat (not a knife as i found out it digs into the wall) to use as a sceaper. I have always found removing wallpaper very theraputic.  Good luck with both the room and youe pregnancy.   Lisa x

if your happy for the paper to stay you best option is painting it, its cheeper and quicker, but if your planning on using the room soon after decorating make sure the rooms been well ventilated or you can buy special paints with no fumes now but they are more expensive, if i was you id ok it with the landlord and get it done asap, if you have never papered befor i wouldnt take it on just yet when you want the room all lovely for the little man it can be hard work get a freind we experience to help youll be a pro in no time.

Just a silly question - but do you have permission from the owner do anything with the walls?? . . Just thought I'd ask as most owners and real estates get really nasty if you paint or wallpaper . .

Here a a couple of great idea's for a renter . .

• Use Blue material and put it up over the painted area, hold it in place with thumbtacks . .  You can get inventive and try making patterns with the material . . I did pleats one time ..
• You can purchase some GREAT wall stickers that go on to paint . . They just sit on top and can be very easily removed and leave no marks etc . . Ebay often have them cheaper if you look but they can be brought from most paint shops . . There are some GREAT baby boys stickers around.

These are just off the top of my head, if I think of anything else I will let you know . . .

Hey Danni, you can certainly paint over wall paper.  Or wall paper over it, as long as you clean the surface well, otherwise the oils and dirt will not allow the glue to stick.  You can remove quite easily if you want, they have solutions and tools that make it come off easily, but I don't know how safe they are for you and baby.  Good luck!!
