as we dont vaccinate against the pox in the uk, can I recommend a vaccation to the uk ;-)? If you get here in the next few days, my DD2 will share hers LOL! If the vaccine is fairly well uptaken in Oz then your children probably wont catch it - its taken my dd1 nearly 6 years of exposure and she has yet to catch it. Little sister wil probably fix that!
I didn't think that such a thing existed. Personally I would rather immunise than deliberately expose my child to it and agree with Dionire, just because you've had it once doesn't guarantee you wont get it again.
I understand where everyone is coming from, vaccination is more 'accepted' now a days. However vaccination also does not guarantee that you won't get the disease.
Rather than this becoming a vaccination debate (which is endless), we have chosen not to. So if anyone in Perth, WA hears of children with chickenpox, measles etc you can post here or PM me.
I realise this path may seem strange to some people, and we respect your decision to vaccinate.
my parents and aunties used to go that with myself and all my cousins. if one of us had it then they'd get us all together so we could get it out of the way early, as getting it later in life, especially for boys is a lot worse. but i would like to add that just because you've had it once, doesn't mean you can't get it again, even though people say you can only get chicken pox once. i actually caught it twice as a kid.
Vaccination is what we would like to avoid, this is how I contracted Chicken Pox many years ago from my neighbour across the road and have had natural immunity since
