Hi guys, I am now just under 3 weeks pregnant'and since the day before my missed period I have been getting frequent stitch type pains in my abdomen. I don't remember if I had these with our daughters pregnancy or not & I am slightly concerned. It's very hard to get Dr's here & my first appointement I was able to get isn't until the 19th of this month. These pains are worse when I'm standing up though are on and off present when sitting or laying down as well, they are the same or perhaps slightly sharper than a stitch pain and bounce from either side and in the middle, the middle ones are sharper. Is this normal or am I going to miscarry? Any advice will be apreciated. Thanks
I got the same at the start of my pregnancy n I had it right though up till the end of my pregnancy, The Doctor said 2 me the reason why i get them is my body small and I didn't have much weight... They got worst when I got bigger.
hahahahaha! No offence, but being small and without much weight has never been one of my problems haha. I WISH! LOL. I think maybe either I simply don't remember it from our first, or that because everythign has stretched out once before perhaps it happens quicker the second time........ either way it's very reassuring to have some other people who've had it and been okay. I have the sore boobs and a little tired but TOUCH WOOD no morning sickness yet. I had it very very badly with our first, so I'm hoping for a reprieve this time. I was throwing up into my 8.5 months with our first and was on Moxlon (spelling?).... Our daughter was born with a ton of hair with which I had bad indigestion, so I don't care if this one is bald as a badger LOL. Thanks for all the reassurances, Congrats & advice.
wow congrats! and wow how do you find out your preg at 3 weeks?!. yep that all sounds normal. i wouldn't worry too much, i always had pains like i was about to get my period, then i would pass my due date and they would continue, and i've never had a miscarrage.
Thats reassuring thank you. We don't "Get it on"that often LOL. so I conceived shortly around my 14th day of my cycle and pee'd on a stick LOL and got a positive result (though faint) the day after I was due and it never arrived. But the test I used actually says you can use it 5 days BEFORE your first missed period, which I didn't try, but thats pretty impressive if it works. Thats how I know I'm only 3 weeks, TODAY actually LOL.
I was thinking about it and even my IUD got embedded, (pre Ailish) so I'm fairly confident that what ever gets up there wants to stay LOL.
It sounds to me like the pregnancy hormones are starting to kick in. This will cause many symptoms including the feeling in your abdomen. Your body is starting to prepare for the rest of the pregnancy and sometimes it can be rather uncomfortable.
Soon, morning sickness will follow, along with tender breasts, tiredness and so on.
Unless there is bleeding with the pain, I would try and just take it easy and not over do things. 19 May isn't all that far away, so you should be fine until then.
Such pains are common as there's not as much room in your stomach. The baby may be pressing on a nerve, too. At this stage your baby is very small, as you would know, but remember that everything inside you is being pushed around. If the pain gets severe, or you are still worried, see the doctor. If you explain you are pregnant & have pains they should get you in quicker, they'd be slack if they don't. But if they don't go to the hospital. It's often better to be safe than sorry.
Congrats on your pregnancy. I'm sure all is fine. All the best.
I'm also just on 3 weeks pregnant (or there abouts). I saw my doc today and from what he was saying the signs of miscarriage are severe cramps in the pelvic region and usually with bleeding. Ok, time for me to admit something. Late last year I had what they think was a miscarriage. The pain your describing doesn't really sound like what I experienced. Then again, it's just my experience. Have a look on the net. There are some great Aussie websites full of info. If you are really concerned then take yourself off to hospital. The doc told me to the same thing. Any sign of severe cramping, like to the point where you can't move then quick to the hospital. Sorry if I havent been much help. Take care and let us know how you go.
Hi Congrats to you & thank you for that advice, it's actually made me feel a bit better. My pain is not severe, more annoying and there is no sign of blood whats so ever. I was wondering if because I have already had a child 2.5 years ago then maybe the stomache muscles move etc. earlier & maybe it's that? I'll look on line. Thanks again & good luck with yours.
I forgot to say that I've been having some twinges as well. From what I've been told it's the utureus getting ready for the bub. I know what you mean by annoying. It always hits me at work whenever I'm reaching up for something. My doc said it's all normal and not to be too concerned! Best of luck
