Re: can any one help

I also got my daughter a braclet with the intent of adding a charm every year. Its not something that she can use now but I'm sure she will appreciate it when she is older.
Otherwise, for their 1st birthday I like to think that they should get something that they can keep as once they get older they will pick and choose whatever toy is popular at the time. So perhaps a book like a collection of books or nursery rhymes?
My friend got her boy a big piggy bank.
A 'special'  teddy?
With the ears, I think in Aust its about 6 months??

Re: can any one help

Hi Lisa,

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY HANNAH for Friday. When Josh turned one we brought him a leap pad. They are interactive story books where kids learn colours, numbers, shapes and a whole lot of other fun stuff. He is 2 1/2 now and it is something that gets played with every day. Blocks-(peek-a-blocks) and colouring books are also good ones.

As for the ears. Not sure, i guess it is up to the parents.

Hope this helps

Juzzy xoxo

Re: can any one help

hi the leap pads are fantastic, BUT i was buying the books for them yesterday and the toy store seemed to think they are discontinuing them for a new lot, i would think they would still have to be able to connect to the ones we have, but the plus side is they are extra cheap now, one game is $10  insread of $30 and you can buy leap pads for $50 now with a game! soooooooo cheap.

My girl loved playdoh, crayons, anything to do using hands.  simple block puzzles, etc.  I got my girls ear peirced at 8weeks, so she would be fine anytime now.  Good Luck!

Re: can any one help

This is what most 1 year olds would love

Books with large simple everyday pictures

, nursery rhymes,

push along/pull along toys,

very simple puzzles,

ride-on toys

, teddy bears,

dolls,

blocks

water toys to pour with, small paddle pool (always under supervision),

, sand toys (such as bucket and spade), sieve for the sand tray,

posting box,

drums,

large blocks,

balls

simple matching games,

musical dvds or kids dvds

Hope she has a special day..

Re: can any one help

Blocks, all of my kids loved them, my girls liked to knock them over, but my son loved to line them up and make squares, and I would spend alot of time with him, for some reason he would line them up, and he knew what size and color he put in each space, cause if I moved them he would put them back exactly where they were, even if I moved them when he wasnt looking.  So blocks will be fun for you too! lol.  Also the toys that have numbers and shapes on them, we have one that they are shapes that fit in holes.  Happy Birthday to your little one!!!

Re: can any one help

my bubs only nearing 8 months so i can't help you with that part, but with the ear piercing i can't remember if it's 3 months or 6 months. either way she's old enough to get them done if that's what you're fine with. i was in year 4 when i got my ears done and i was asked if i wanted them done, i personally liked the idea that i got to choose if they were peirced or not.

Re: can any one help

when my kids turned 1 i bought them one of those ride on bikes. it helps them walk and the pushing action.

with the ears the youngest i have found is 6 months so hannah is old enough to get them done. i personally dont agree with it but that is me. charlotte was 3 and a half when she got hers.

Re: can any one help

Our youngest turned 1 on Monday, and we got her stacking cups, some cloth blocks and some Little People characters from Fisher Price.  Oh, and bath ducks and a teddy bear and a pull along toy.  We now have to get a toy box to keep it all in  and will be getting a plastic wagon type one that she can push around and get to the toys easily.

No help on the ear piercing.  Mine are going to have to make that choice themselves when they are older.
