Hi there Liz I had the same thing when my girl was younger,I just told her that it is girl and when she is a big girl it will happen to her but you must stress to her that it does not hurt and it is a natural thing and that mummy is ok and so will she be when she gets to be a big girl and it happens to her.

I don't think she is too young to understand a little explanation. Just explain it that every so often, mummy bleeds to help stop any babies coming because you don't want any more just yet. And that it is something that only girls do and she will when she gets older.

Now I don't have girls, but my boys always asked from a young age, mainly because I have an open door policy and also because they have seen me bleed out occassionally making a huge mess. From what I can remember C was only 2 1/2 when he first started asking about it. Had to let him know a few times, but it sank in. Same with the others.
