Flutters?

Hi all

Just asking this out of curiosity - When did you first feel your baby move? I know that with Amy I felt the first movements around 16 weeks but I am sure that I am feeling that fluttering already and I am just 12 weeks 1 day and when i have looked this up most articles say you won't feel any movement till 16 weeks, if I'm not feeling bubba move then what could it be?

Re: Flutters?

It depends on how experienced you are with pregnancy and your body type.  Some women feel it early, others (like me with my first) don't feel it until around the 16 week mark.

It is possible that your muscles are shifting and expanding, and that can feel the same too.

Re: Flutters?

with Alex, my first he power kicked Chris's hand off my belly when i was about 18 weeks and then Charlie at about 15 weeks.  it was funny cause my SIL Sarah always wanted to feel either of the kids kick and they wouldnt for her. she sat there one night ( she used to stay with us often) for like 2 hours with her hand onmy tummy.

Re: Flutters?

I no also what they say... but when i was about 12 weeks pregnant (also) i was laying down getting a facial and felt like someone ran there thumb accross the inside of my belly and to this day im certain that it was william! its really hard to tell though... they say that after your first baby you start to feel movement alot earlier than what you did with your first one.... HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!

Re: Flutters?

I felt my first daughter move around 16 weeks however it was earlier with the second, I think because you know what it feels like you feel it earlier.

Re: Flutters?

Most people I think feel it earlier with consecutive children.  i was really late feeling my son - about 18-20weeks, but with number 2 it was about 10-11 weeks.  My sil said with her third it was even sooner.  Isn't it exciting?!

Re: Flutters?
With my first baby i felt the fluttering at 12 weeks, and with all the others at about 10 weeks. it really just depends on the idividual and how intune you are with your body.

Re: Flutters?

I felt Jedd "flutter" at about 11 weeks so YES you can. The nurse at my OB/GYN office said that since i was skinny that's what it was. The skinnier you are th easier it is to feel the baby moving.

Re: Flutters?

I felt my first at about 16 weeks as well. With the the twins, I felt them at 12 weeks. But of course I was doubting myself saying that it was probably gas.

After the first pregnancy, movements by the baby are usually felt sooner because you know what it feels like now.

If you feel bloated and gassy and have an unsettled feeling in your stomach, then it's not the baby. But if none of these accompany the flutters that you feel, then it's the baby!

Re: Flutters?

The 'movement' you feel could just be bubbles, but it could be the baby. The first baby movement is around 16 weeks but often with subsequent pregnancies movement is felt earlier. Happy Mother's Day!
