Blister on a new borns lip

Has anyone experienced a new born having a blister on their top lip? If so, can you answer with the why what when and how of helping or even the cause...

Bubby isn't discomforted by it - but just wanted to know...

Cheers

Re: Blister on a new borns lip

Sounds like a sucking blister to me.  It is normal for babies to get them, just like it is normal for nursing mothers to get blisters on their nipples.

I wrote an article about lanolin and how it helped me sooo much, so will add that to related content for you.

I agree with everyone else, normal, Khiley had a huge one, and it concerned me, but her pediatricain said its normal.  Just dont try to pop it or peel it.

Hey, matey, long time no see!

Normal. Danny has one as well. He's now 7 weeks and it's not bothered him at all.

All my kids had these sucking blisters, perfectly normal and it won't bother them at all.

Re: Blister on a new borns lip

Hi honey,

Hmmm - tell your daughter NOT to stress . . . Lip blisters in newborns are actually quite common, sometimes they are so small that many parents do not notice them.

Sometimes the blister may disappear between feedings and vanishes after the baby is no longer purely fed breast or bottle fed. Babies under 6 months of age are all known to get these blisters . ..

The blister is a result of very vigorous sucking which is great for the baby as it shows that they are a great feeder .. The only time to be concerned is if the blister is affecting bubs feeding, most babies however are not bothered by them . .

I know ALL my girls fed just fine, blisters and all . .

Cheers Kellz

Re: Blister on a new borns lip

Hey not sure if I can help but is bubs bottle fed?   Is it on the inside of his mouth? If so it may be a sucking blister from using the bottle. Nothing to worry about this happens my bubs who is 10mths got it and still some times gets it.  It doesn't bother him.  I would just leave it alone.
