9month old freaking out on the change table

Hi everyone,

Just thought I'd see if anyone else has had this happen. Whenever I put my 9 month old on a change table at the shops or really anywhere for that matter, she starts to shake and cry like she is really scared. I have no trouble changing her on the floor at home. I'm wondering if it is the hard surface?

Any thoughts wold be appreciated.

Bec

I still have the same problem with my son and he is 15 months. Apparently they grow out of it when they realise there is actually nothing wrong or terrifying about the change table.  Some great advice I got was to use a glittery sticker on the back their hand.  They are so fascinated you can do your thing beofre they even realise.  Of course only use the sticker for those couple of minutes or the excitement will wear opff quickely.

Hope it helps.

It is a security thing.  She's not used to being that high up on a table.  Just keep talking to her and playing games while you change her nappy and it will make it a little bit easier for both of you.

It could also be a wave of baby rebellion, which can start as young as 6 months.

I was thinking the same exact t hing!!! LOL

She may really not like the height of the table. I hope over time she gets better at it. Does she have a fav. toy or blanket you coudl bring with you for on the go diaper chagnes in public. that wya she coudl ahve somethign to keep her distracted and comfortable.

I have the same problem. My daughter is a bit older now and she still cries if i try to change her on those flip out tables. So what i do is just change her lying down in the pram. It doesn't take long so i don't bother with anything else now.

Could be because she's up off the floor?? If she's used to the floor being up on a table to be changed might scare her.

Thanks for the advice. I think I'll just have to use the pram. I have a little change table on the porta cot I have at work and she's fine on that.  Glad to hear she's not the only one that does it.Thanks again
